Coral reefs have provided a rich environment for fish for millions of years. Over time, fish species have evolved into a dizzying array of shapes, colors, and patterns. Reef fishes are among the most beautiful creatures in the sea due in part to their bright colors and amazingly complex patterns. Nearly every color in the rainbow can be found here.
