The goal of Merc Tactics was make a game as good as Jagged Alliance, but using 3D graphics and trying to improve and simplify the game. However, given the resources at my disposal, I knew it would be along journey to get even something of acceptable quality. I released a very cut down game initially, with minimum features. The idea was to have something released that was at least playable (albeit with limited features) and then slowly improve it.
There have been six new versions since it was first released on itch.io. Each one slowly adding new features and incremental improvements. I think the game is quite good now, however we still have a long way to go. My plan for the future, is first add some more features to the battles (i.e. grenades, auto generated buildings, etc.). Then, I want to revamp the campaign part of the game - i.e. the management of resources and movement on the global map.
