Memorial Day!

"Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War..."

Today is Memorial Day Challenge over at PaperCraftingWorld

I created a layout to use for pictures that we will take of us having a
Memorial Day BBQ at my house.
I distress the edges of my pattern paper.
Did lots of stitching here and there.  I will place pictures later in the week.
For the star's how to see my post for Thursday the 19th of May.
 Used lots of dimensional foam.
Here you can see that I had forgotten to paint/draw their eyes and mouth and now I did and took this picture after I had already taken my other pictures and posted... and why did I touch my desing with my dirty full of ink and glue hands and messed up his nose?? Don't you just love it when that happens!!?
Printed the journal piece with my Imagine and Imagine More Cards and punched with an EK punch.
The stars are punched with a Marvy Uchida punch.
All PP is from K&Co Americana Collection
and
My cutting file is from Melin from PaperCraftingWorld!
I used PageMaps to guide me.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment....
There is still time to comment on my previous posting for a chance at winning the file I used.

Cinco De Mayo Layout - WeRMemory Keepers Fiesta Collection

Welcome to GabyCreates
and to the
Cinco de Mayo Blog Hop
hosted by my BFF Abby

If you just happened to be visiting and wish to participate, start with Abby, but if you just arrived from Sweet Talented Erika you are in the right place.

Cinco De Mayo (May 5th) is not México's Independence Day as many think (it is actually September 16th, but the celebrations start on the evening of the 15th waiting for the President to give El Grito).  I won't bore you with more history since you probably alreary read a bit more information on the subject at Abby's.

For today's celebration, I begged for this file!!!  (actually Yolie requested it from Melin, Melin created it and I just had to have it! -- I would have begged! lol)

When I first saw the file I could not belive how great the girl bear would go with pictures I had of my grand daughter dressesed almost just like that! to celebrate FIESTA day/week at her school. (I will use the boy on another project, I am sure! love the maracas, the boots and the hat!).

Warning: Picture Heavy!
I was so super excited two years ago when my daughter sent me these pictures!
My grand daughter is 50% Spanish/Mexican, 25% Irish and 25% African American
One day she asked me what she was (You can only imagine the comments she gets, but will spare you the details)-- I told her she was my Mexican Baby!!
so when I saw these pictures I thought she looks GORGEOUS!!
(watch out!, grandma speaking!)
and I was so PROUD!!
Closer look at the Papel Picado

filling look.

Easter Layout -PaperCraftingWorld

Today is the first Challenge over at
PaperCraftingWorld    (a CookingWithCricut sister blog)

The first challenge is an Easter Challenge

Melin, the owner of the blog is the creator of most of the files I will be using on PCW Monday postings.

Today, I created a layout of my grand daughters and the Golden Egg.
You can purchase the bunny over at PaperCraftingWorld
For my basket weave, I just cut 1 in. pieces of PP and weaved to my 10"x3"
Other items used:
MS All Occasions Cake Art for the grass
Kate's ABC's for the letters
MyLittleShoeBox PP for sky
Cosmo Cricket PP for basket weave
AmericanCrafts white cardstock
Sewing machine
Chalk

This is a sneak peek of my posting on Wednesday for CookingWithCricut.  I created this layout first using all Cricut cuts, so I decided to make it if not a two page layout, two pages that can go together in my scrapbook album and look similar.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.  Please go meet the other DT members and take a look at their  creations and hope you can enter the challenge over at PCW.

Additionally, I would love it if you come back on Wednesday to take a look at my other matching layout!
