A beautiful present for Gen. Jackson.

--Early last spring, certain ladies of a city north of Richmond sent to Virginia a beautiful present for that Christian soldier, whose exalted worth has endeared his name to the Christian world. It was a pair of spurs, wrought of fine gold, and finished in the highest style of art. They were put into the hands of a trustworthy man to be brought across the lines. But the lower part of the Valley being occupied by Federal troops, he found the peril of discovery too great. He therefore buried the precious treasure in the woods, not far from Winchester, and there they remained till the enemy were driven out of Virginia in June. As soon as it was practicable they were searched for and found, and sent to the care of the editor of the Central Presbyterian. In the meantime the great warrior for whom the costly present was designed had laid aside all the weapons of his warfare, and was in the highest sense made "more than a conqueror, through Him that loved him. " It is proper to add that the beautiful gift referred to has been safely transmitted to the family of Gen. Jackson.
