Financial.--The sales of gold, though in small sums, indicate a decline of three to four per cent, from the highest.
The brokers are asking about 11 per cent. premium.
In the stock market prices remain at about last quotations. We quote Confederate bonds, cotton int. loan, at 150; do. do., 100 M loan, 103 a 111 1-2 and int., according to date; 7 per cent, bonds, 101 and int. There have been no sales of 15 M. bonds for some time past. The possible closure of the ports has already lessened the demand for these bonds.
We quote Virginia 6's, reg'd, 210; N. Carolina 6's, old issue, 440; do. do. 8's, 176 and int; City of Richmond bonds, 235 and int.; Rich. and York R. R. R. bonds, 160 and int.; Rich. and Danville R. R. do., 225 and int.; Va. Central R. R., 1st mort., 231 and int.; Va. Central R. R. stock, 119; Rich. and York R. R. R. do, 77; Farmers' Bank stock, 150; Bank of Commonwealth, 150; Bank of Richmond, 115; Bank of Virginia, 105; Old Dominion Ins. Co., 54; Ins. Co. State of Virginia, 51; James River and Kanawha Co., 20. An extensive sale of bonds and stocks is advertised in to-day's paper.
Produce, Provisions, &c.--Apples, $25a35. per bbl. Bacon has advanced. We quote hoground at $2a2.10. Butter, $2 per lb.; choice packages may be quoted 25 higher. Corn $9a9.50 per bushel. Corn Meal has declined to $9.25 a9.50. Flour — Superfine, $40; Extra, $45; Family, $50 per bbl. Potatoes are coming in liberally, and we now quote at $6a6.50 per bushel. Lard has advanced; we quote at $1.65a1.70. Onions, $12 per bushel. Oats, $6 per bushel. Wheat, $5 per bushel — the price fixed by the Government. Hay, $10 per 100 lbs.
Groceries.--Brown Sugar, $1.75a1.87 per lb. Molasses, $14 per gallon. Coffee, $3.75a4.25 per lb. Rice firm at 20 to 25c per lb. Salt, 45 per lb. Tallow Candles, $3. Wax Tallow, $3.50a4.--Soap, 75 to $1.
Tobacco.--The market is unchanged, and we omit quotations.
Liquors.--Apple Brandy, $26. Rye Whiskey, $32.50. Corn Whiskey, $28a30. Rum, $25a28. French Brandy, $80a90 per gallon.
