The city.

--The river has subsided to its usual dimensions. During the rise of the water but little, if any, damage was done to the shipping at Rocketts. The rise was expected and had been provided against. The streets are very dry at the present time, owing to the heavy winds that have prevailed continually since the advent of March.--The new steam fire engine, presented to the city by the insurance companies, will be tried at 12 o'clock to day.
