Fun in camps.
--Straws show which way the wind blows, and nothing is a better indication of the cheerfulness, confidence and courage of our troops at Corinth, than the genial humor in which they indulge in the face of the death-dealing enemy. In the Memphis Avalanches, of May 2d, we find the following withy answer to an advertisement, which recently appeared in its column:
In Camp Near Corinth, Miss, April 28th 1862.
Gents: I notice in the Appeal of this morning an advertisement, headed ‘"Board Wanted by a young man in a private family"’ I have a neat cottage, situated three quarters of a mile from Corinth, Miss., (convenient to business.) If the young man likes the location, I will give him board and clothing, and also a bonus of $1 per month.
As for ‘"reference,"’ I refer him to any friend of G. T. Beauregard, Esq., of this place.
