The White House festivities.
Not a few of the Northern papers criticize severely the expensive balls and festivities which the Lincoln family have inaugurated at the White House in the midst of the distress and poverty of their people. They aptly compare it to Nero finding while Rome was burning. We do not expect them to distress themselves on account of their brutal and bloody invasion of the Southern Confederacy; but, whilst their own nation is bleeding financially at every pare, and its soldiers perishing by multitudes, some semblance of cobricly of deportment might be looked for from any of the White House, except a family of monkeys. Socially and politically, it is no small leasing to be delivered from the dominion of such a dynasty.
