Rumors.
The reports that obtained circulation yesterday were so numerous that it would be difficult to notice them in detail. On inquiry at the war office, at a late hour, we ascertained that not one-half of them had received official confirmation. That our forces made a gallant defence at Fort Doselson, during a terrible fight of three days, is all that was known. The enemy was reinforced on Saturday night, and troops were marching to the assistance of our army at last accounts. The generally accredited result of the fight on Saturday, which commenced at half-past 5 o'clock in the morning, was a loss by the enemy of some 1,200 in killed and wounded, and 300 prisoners, while our loss is killed and wounded was about 500.
