Fatal locomotive Explosion.
--On Monday afternoon last, at half past 12 o'clock, says the New Orleans Picayune, the locomotive Mississippi, of the Carrolton Railroad, exploded at the depot in this city, just as it was switched off from a train just coming in. The engineer, named Martin Daughney, was killed on the spot, and Adam, the fireman, and another man, named Jacob, were dangerously wounded. One of the pieces of the locomotive, weighing several hundred pounds, was thrown to a great distance, falling on a house on Bacchus street, inhabited by Mr. H. Lindo, going through the roof and smashing everything in Mr. Lindo's bedroom, just as a bombshell might have done. The bell of the locomotive was found on Thalia street.
