Taking time by the Forelock.
--Some of the Republican party Washingtonians seem inclined to lose nothing in the way of office under the incoming Administration by delay. Thus we perceive, says the Star, that petitions are already being carried around the city for signatures, recommending our well known fellow-citizen, Major B. B. French, for the Marshalship of the District of Columbia. One of these is being offered to citizens without distinction of party, for their signatures, and another to members of the Republican party only. It is likely that ere twenty-four hours elapse similar petitions for the appointment of half a dozen others to the same office will be passing around as "plenty as blackberries."
