Political persecution at the Academy of Medicine.

--The regular monthly meeting of the Academy of Medicine was held on Wednesday evening, when the time was exclusively occupied in the discussion of the charges of sympathy with the South made against Dr. Thomas, the Secretary, at the last meeting of the Academy. The debate was very warm, in the Committee of the Whole.--Dr. Thomas stated that he had prepared a written communication to the Academy, which he would present, provided he were allowed to read the minutes of the meeting. It was not, however, received. Dr. Thomas then tendered his resignation, at the same time denying the right of the Academy to question him as to his political opinions, yet he averred that the charges made against him were entirely untrue. The resignation was not acted upon. The Committee rose and the Academy adjourned.--N. Y. Day Book.
