--The New York Commercial Advertiser says the Polytechnic Association is at its next meeting to be feasted with sugar made by chemical transformation from old rags, and with a pudding made from the gelatine of old sh. Leather being composed of tannin and gelatine, the tannic acid is extracted, and the gelatine is then purified from the discoloring tannate of iron, after which it is fit for culinary purposes. It should have added the imitation--"in the commercial emporium."
