The Peace Convention.
‘"Independent,"’ the intelligent Washington correspondent of the Philadelphia North American (Black Republican) says, Feb. 23 :‘"As there are various propositions pending, a final division will hardly be reached before tomorrow or Monday. The minority will be sufficiently decided to divest the action of the Convention of any great moral weight with the country. The positive Republicans will go no farther than a National Convention; and if they should be overruled by majorities in the State delegations, they will probably find a mode of giving more decided expression to their sentiments than the mere record of their votes will furnish."’
