Parkhurst, Charles Henry 1842-

Clergyman; born in Framingham, Mass., April 17, 1842; graduated at Amherst in 1866; studied at Halle and Leipzig; became pastor of the Madison Square Presbyterian Church, New York City, in 1880. In 1891 he accepted the presidency of the Society for the Prevention of Crime. The revelations made by the society led to an investigation of the New York police by the State authorities in 1894. Among Dr. Parkhurst's publications is Our fight with Tammany.
