Cockran, William Bourke 1854-
Lawyer; born in Ireland, Feb. 28, 1854; became [227] prominent in New York politics as an adherent of Tammany Hall, for which he was frequently spokesman. In 1896, being an advocate of the gold standard, he left his party and made speeches for the Republican party.
