PATU´MUS

PATU´MUS (Πάτουμος, Hdt. 2.159), a town of Arabia, on the borders of Egypt, near which Necho constructed a canal from the Nile to the Arabian Gulf. It is probably the Pithom of Scripture (Exod. 1.11), not far from Bubastis, and near the site of the present Belbey.
