Malluvia

(from manus + luo). A basin used for washing the hands, and called by the Greeks χει

μαλλυϝια. ῾αλδοβρανδινι φρεσξο. ϝατιξαν.᾿

ρόνιπτρον
and χέρνιβον ( Il. xxiv. 304). The accompanying illustration shows the basin upon its stand, with a towel beside it.
