ἔκλῃον — apparently they left a narrow opening (διέκπλους) which was guarded by chains.

ἢν—in case, like εἴ πως, εἰ ἄρα.

ὀλίγον οὐδὲν κ.τ λ.—cf. II. 8 ὀλίγον ἐπενόουν οὐδὲν ἀμφότεροι; Aristoph. Eq. 387 μηδὲν ὀλίγον ποίει. νῦν γὰρ ἔχεται μέσος; Plut. Demetr. 43 μικρὸν οὐδὲν ἔτι ἐφρόνουν.
