τέλος is a regiment, i.e. an organized body of troops of a particular kind (i. 103. 1), horse (ch. 87; ix. 20, 22. 1, 23. 1) or foot (ch. 211. 3). It is much the same as τάξις (cf. ch. 212. 2 with 211. 3; ix. 42. 1), and is contrasted with the ἔθνος or tribal contingent; cf. ix. 33. 1.
