ἕκαστος ... ὑμέων: not ἑκάτερος, because ὑμέων, like ὑμεῖς above, refers not only to the envoys but to all Spartiates present.

Cf. Democritus in Stobaeus xliii. 42 ἡ ἐν δημοκρατίῃ πενίη τῆς παρὰ τοῖς δυνάστῃσι καλεομένης εὐδαιμονίης τοσοῦτο ἐστι αἱρετωτέρη ὁκόσον ἐλευθερίη δουλείης.
