Si causae turpitudo contrahit offensionem, aut pro eo
homine, in quo offenditur, alium hominem, qui dili-
gitur, interponi oportet; aut pro re, in qua offen-
ditur, aliam rem, quae probatur; aut pro re hominem
aut pro homine rem, ut ab eo, quod odit, ad id, quod
diligit, auditoris animus traducatur; et dissimulare te
id defensurum, quod existimeris; deinde, cum iam mi-
tior factus erit auditor, ingredi pedetemptim in defen-
sionem et dicere ea, quae indignentur adversarii, tibi
quoque indigna videri; deinde, cum lenieris eum, qui
