--There is a gradual thinning out of the scattered settlements in the northern part of Coos county, N. H. Dixville, which ten years ago had three families, has been uninterrupted for several years.
Odell for many years has had but one inhabitant — a hermit.
He entertains visitors hospitably, but declines all invitations to remove to the adjacent settlements.
He refuses to answer questions as to his former history.
