You Left Me All Alone

Dan Wilson of Trip Shakespeare and Semisonic is working on a new "super-solo" album where he's truly flying solo. He's debuted the first new tune from it called Something I Don't Know. It's exactly what you'd expect from Mr. Wilson - gooey, sentimental piano pop.

Wilson is also currently enjoying his first Number One song in the UK: Adele's Someone Like You, a true song for a broken heart...

Congratulations, Dan!

Every New Beginning...

Dan and Matt Wilson of Trip Shakespeare, etc. fame played together for the first time in many years on 3/26 and they've already released the live performance as a download! Go here to choose from two different version - the music is the same but if you're a rabid fan like a certain someone I know you'll spend five bucks more to get the extras! It sounds like the show is already legendary.

We'll Override the History

Dan Wilson Free LifeDan Wilson - I don't really need to say "of Trip Shakespeare and Semisonic fame" anymore, right? I mean, he has won a Grammy - so, anyway, Dan Wilson of solo fame is heading out on the road as part of the "Hotel Cafe" tour and is hitting a few choice Midwest locales (not Des Moines, sigh), including his hometown of M-Town Minneapolis.

The Peaceful Quiet You Create For Me

Dan Wilson Free Life EPAs previously reported, Dan Wilson (of Semisonic, Trip Shakespeare) has a solo album coming out October 16 called Free Life. To get you juiced, he's released the Free Life EP via iTunes complete with three tunes: Cry, Easy Silence (previously available Dixie Chicks-style on their album), and All Kinds. It's emotional, sentimental, mellow, adult, singer-songwritery stuff so be prepared. It's also quite good.

Free Life tracklist:

1. All Kinds
2. Free Life

3. Breathless

4. Baby Doll

5. Come Home Angel

6. Sugar

7. Cry

8. Golden Girl

9. Against History

10. Honey Please

11. She Can’t Help Me

12. Hand On My Heart

13. Easy Silence

Why did DW add this song to the album? "Of all the songs the Chicks and I wrote together," he said, "'Easy Silence' felt the most universal to me and also seemed like the one that I related to most personally. I thought it would be interesting to hear what the song would sound like from a man's perspective. Plus, I wanted an excuse to play more slide guitar on the album."

All Kinds of Beautiful

Dan Wilson"Grammy Dan" Wilson is releasing a solo album called Free Life on October 16. Special guests include Sheryl Crow, Lance Armstrong (awkward!), Jayhawks' Gary Louris, and others. This is indeed good news.

Preview tracks at hisspace. Sound great, as if you expected any less.
Download tracks by Semisonic here.

BTW, Wilson won the Song of the Year Grammy for Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks, which honestly transcends any genre by being such a damn great tune.
