Pure Ice Diamond Couture Collection: Sea-Quin

Pure Ice Sea-Quin (2 coats) over 2 coats of Wet N Wild Black Creme

*This polish was provided by the company or PR representative. All reviews are based solely on my opinion. For more information, please see my full disclosure at the bottom of the site*

This is going to be a quick post tonight, so let's get to it. Sea-Quin is a chartreuse microglitter with holographic larger diamond glitter in a clear base. As you cab see, I went a little overboard on the diamond glitter and fished them out. I still think it looks cool and I got lots of compliments on it. The formula was slightly thick, so you may want to add a couple drops of thinner. I still see these popping around Walmart, so check your local store.

Pure Ice Diamond Couture Collection: Material Girl

Pure Ice Material Girl (2 coats) over Wet N Wild Black Creme (2 coats)

*This polish was provided by the company or PR representative. All reviews are based solely on my opinion. For more information, please see my full disclosure at the bottom of the site*

Sorry for the lack of posts, but the driving to DC and pen show took up my whole weekend! I had a great time and got to see some of the people from the Raleigh pen show which was cool. Oh, and I also bought 2 fountain pens. Oops! I hope you had a great weekend!

Material Girl from Pure Ice is another polish I've had around forever, but never got around to posting. It's a fine pink glitter with large pink diamond-shaped glitter pieces in a clear base. It wasn't too difficult getting the large glitter out, but I suggest turning the bottle upside down before using it. The polish itself is a bit thick, so try to use thin coats. Overall, I think this is cool and looks great over black! You can find Pure Ice polishes on their website or Walmart for $1.99.

Spoiled by Wet N Wild: Toad-ally Amazing

Spoiled Toad-ally Amazing (2 coats)

Hola, happy Hump Day! Things have been pretty busy at work. I'm finishing up a few experiments and writing a paper for publication. I hate writing....weird since I have this blog, right? I just want to do the science, not write about it!

Anyway, this is the first polish I have from Spoiled by Wet N Wild which can be found exclusively for $1.99 at your local CVS store. I tend not to shop at CVS and opt for Walgreens instead because I feel they have more collections that I want. When I stopped CVS recently, Toad-ally Amazing (weird name!) really called to me. It's a light blue/green teal color with beautiful shimmer. I think the shimmer is really what sets this apart. The color itself doesn't feel very unique, but that doesn't mean it isn't gorgeous. The one thing I really hated about this one was the brush on the bottle. It was one of those huge tapered ones that I find really difficult to work with. Other than that, I was really impressed with the brand.

Wet N Wild Go With the Flow-er Collection: Head in the Clouds

Wet N Wild Head in the Clouds (2 coats)

I just got home from watching Fright Night and I thought it was good. I honestly wanted to watch it because David Tennant is in it and I'm a huge fan. In case I haven't mentioned it, I love the British tv show Doctor Who. My favorite Doctor was definitely Tennant and I try to watch what he's in. You have no idea how excited I am about this 3-day weekend (it's Labor Day here in the US). I plan on catching up on sleep and getting some things done around the house.

Doesn't Head in the Clouds remind you a bit of China Glaze's Cherish from the Romantiques collection? It's due to it being a light green polish with a frosty metallic finish just like Cherish. I dunno, I liked it in the bottle, but it is just so streaky. For the $0.99 I paid for it, it's a fine polish, but be extra careful with the application.

Wet N Wild Go With the Flow-er Collection: Save Water, There's a Drought

Wet N Wild Save Water, There's a Drought (2 coats)

I finally found out what the collection is called and it's Go with the Flow-er. Again, I found this at CVS and apparently it's pretty new. Let me know if you've found it at your local store! Save Water, There's a Drought is a gorgeous blue/green metallic shimmer that reminds me of a mermaid's fins. Like the lilac color from last night, you really need to be careful of brush stokes, but otherwise the formula was fine.

My Transdesign order was delivered today, but nobody was home. *cries inside* I guess I'll have something to look forward to when I get home tomorrow. I'm really excited about showing some new collections since I've been showing a lot of drugstore polishes lately.

Wet N Wild Wet N Wild Go With the Flow-er Collection: Why Would I Lilac to You?

Wet N Wild Why Would I Lilac to You? (2 coats)

For the life of me I cannot remember the limited edition collection this polish came from! I actually have three to show you all, so hopefully it comes to me or some kind reader reminds me. I found it at my local CVS a little over a month ago. Like other drugstore polishes with limited edition collections, you never know what your local store is going to get, unfortunately. For example, I really wish people could find the Sinful Colors Adventure Island collection I posted the other week.

I'm also happy to report that my (rather large) nail polish haul from Transdesign has shipped. It feels like forever since I've been truly excited about any polish collections. Leave it to fall to have new and exciting colors.

Why Would I Lilac to You? is not very lilac in color if you ask me. It is much too dark to be a true lilac. Either way, for the dollar-something I paid for this it was well worth it. I've been a big fan of Wet N Wild polishes since I was a little girl and I'm happy they're still chucking out polishes I like. Application and formula was fine, but slightly brushstroky so make sure to have a steady hand when applying.

So how was your day? Mine was pretty crappy, but my husband likes to remind me that they're "first-world problems" and he's totally right. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day...

Wet N Wild Flirt Collection: Broken Hearted and Birthday!

Wet N Wild Broken Hearted (2 coats)

So tomorrow's my birthday and my family is coming to town (yay!). I figured I'd post something quickly while I'm waiting for people to arrive. I started swatching the Flirt Collection from Wet N Wild several weeks ago, but got distracted with other new arrivals so I figured it was time to get back to posting a few more polishes. Up today is a polish called Broken Hearted which is a dusty rose creme. It's nothing spectacular, but if you're looking for a nice, normal go-to polish Broken Hearted may fit that bill due to its great application and price.

On the downside? Look how crappy my cuticles are in this picture! My apologies for not getting all of the polish off from the previous manicure. I should be embarrassed showing a picture like this (and I am!). So sorry about that!

Wet N Wild Party of 5 Glitters

Wet  N Wild Party of 5 Glitters (2 coats) over Blue Moon (2 coats)

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend! A few days ago I posted about Blue Moon, and bought the Party of 5 Glitters a few weeks ago so I thought I'd make it a Wet N Wild manicure. I wouldn't call it a dupe of the Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday polish, but since it is so cheap, I would probably stick with the Wet N Wild one anyway. It is filled with large silver hexagonal glitter with medium sized blue and pink/purple glitter and small green and red glitter. The only downside is the clear base that suspends the glitter which is really thick and gloopy. The first coat isn't enough, and on the second coat, the thick base starts to gloop up. Overall, I don't think it takes away from the look of the polish and you end up getting enough glitter on the nail. You can find Wet N Wild polishes at your local drug stores or superstore (e.g. Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, or Target).

Wet N Wild Wild Shine: Blue Moon

Wet N Wild Blue Moon (2 coats)

Hello hello! At first I thought I'd take the night off, but you guys deserve it! The first thing that comes to mind when I hear Blue Moon is the Molson Coors beer. It is also the beer of choice for my Ph D advisor and his wife (yes, orange slice and all). Anyway, Blue Moon is a deep blue shimmer from Wet N Wild that put me back $0.50 from Walgreens. That's right, $0.50! I mean, who wouldn't buy this for that price? Wet N Wild ceases to amaze me with their variety of colors for an incredible price. They are also 3 Free and apply smoothly with impressive pigment. Enjoy!

Wet N Wild Flirt Collection: Shy

Wet N Wild Shy (3 coats)

I really need to post these China Glaze Anchors Away and Crackle collections (I don't have them all, but I did get several)! I'm so sorry for the delay. They are on my camera, but I just haven't had the chance to put them on my computer to crop and resize. Don't worry, they will be posted soon.

Up tonight is another polish from the Wet N Wild Flirt collection called Shy. It is a tan or ivory shimmer that has a bit of frostiness to it. You definitely need to be careful of streaks forming on the nail with this one. It reminds me of the inside of a seashell, am I right? Anyway, it's ok, but definitely isn't a favorite or anything. Still, you can't beat the price on these.

Wet N Wild Flirt Collection: Bar-B

Wet N Wild Bar-B (2 coats)

What a cute name for a polish! My parents gave me the Wet N Wild Flirt collection for Christmas and I am getting around to swatching all of them. Since several were pinks, I thought it'd be an appropriate time to show some of these. Up first is Bar-B which is a bubble-gum pink shimmer. It may not be the most unique polish, but it I think it is really cute and would be a favorite for many who want more neutral, work appropriate polishes. I was also very impressed with the application as it was quite smooth and only needed 2 coats.

Since my husband and I have to work tomorrow we will be celebrating Valentine's Day today. Yay for big dinners! Do you have any plans with your significant other? If you are single (which I had plenty of those) I always enjoyed taking time to pamper myself and also be with friends. So, what are your plans? Go ahead and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Coming Soon from Wet N Wild

Apparently Wet N Wild is coming out with some new FastDry polishes that dry in 60 seconds. With their cheap prices, I will definitely be picking up a few of them. Also, if you go to their website and sign up for their newsletter they will send you coupons intermittently (as in, they don't spam you with e-mails all the time).

Wet N Wild Holiday 2010: Prancer

Wet N Wild Prancer (2 coats) over China Glaze Midnight Kiss (2 coats)

Apparently the Wet N Wild polish Prancer is a bit elusive, but I was lucky enough to find this one at Walgreens about 2 weeks ago. The polish itself looks much smaller than the usual Megalast polishes, but come packed with a Megalast Clear Nail Protector which I'm not sure how to use. The retail price for the pack of 2 was $1.99 which is on par with their polishes. Prancer is definitely just a glitter topcoat and I don't suggest trying to wear it on its own since the glitter is so sparse. It contains 2 sizes of red glitter, the first being the small specks you can see in the background, as well as the larger hexagonal red glitter. What is shown is two coats, so you can see the glitter is not densely packed, but I still love this one. I put it over China Glaze's Midnight Kiss and I'm really happy with the results, but I could see this looking nice on other colors such as white, silver, or black (among others). Overall, it's a great glitter topcoat for a great price!

August 1 Year Blogiversary Giveaway!

From Left: Saved By the Blue, Buffy the Violet Slayer, Glory, Angel Baby, The Gold & The Beautiful, 9.0.2.1.Orange
On Bottom: Lathers & Lights Intensive Therapy Hand Balm

Yes, the time has finally come for my August Giveaway! I'm happy to present you with four new Wet N Wild polishes, 2 Love My Nails polishes, and 1 jar of Lathers and  Lights Intensive Therapy Hand Balm. As you can see, I wanted a better variety of colors and products to choose from.

Melissa from Lathers and Lights has been gracious enough to include a 4 oz container of her Intensive Therapy Hand Balm (retail value $12). I have been a huge fan of Lathers and Lights for a long time, and I have never received better Customer Service and Quality Control from other Bath and Body e-tailers. Since Fall is upon us, I really need to order several of her moisturizers since they are my go-to products. The Body Butter and Body Lotions are both really thick and help my hands from drying out since I know you guys don't want to see my dry cuticles. For warmer climates I would suggest the Body Yogurt or the Lotion Mist since they are not quite as heavy. All products are hand made (no bases here!). While I do like places like Bath and Body Works, sometimes I want a wider variety of scents to choose from. The scent list from Lathers and Lights is so impressive, and with every order, Melissa always includes several samples in different products so you can find other scents and products you must have. Anyway, I have always been impressed with Lathers and Lights and right now they are having a Back to School sale where all orders are 25% off!

To enter, please leave a comment to this post with your e-mail address. You must be a follower in order to win. And finally, this is open to only US readers. I'm so sorry! Please only 1 entry per person. A winner will be chosen by random on August 30, 2010. Good luck everyone!

Please feel free to repost or retweet on your respective blogs, facebook accounts, Twitter accounts, etc. :-D

Wet N Wild Morbid

Wet N Wild Morbid (artificial light)

This is a second swatch from the Wet N Wild Craze collection. Morbid, on first glance, my look like a normal black polish, but it in fact has a teal/green shimmer in most lights. Application, like Inferno, was no problem at all. The picture shown is 2 coats. Again, for $1.99, it's totally worth it.

Wet N Wild in Inferno (artificial light)

I'm sure all of you have used Wet N Wild over the years. Heck, with the great price, why not have a few around at all times? This is from the new Craze collection that has just been released. I am thoroughly impressed with the bottle and application of this polish! The brush and cap are a little on the short side, but the brush is pretty wide which made for easy application. Also, the polish wasn't too thick or thin. Another plus is that it is 3 free! I had no idea! For the low price of $1.99, I definitely suggest picking up a few from this collection. So far this set can be found at some WalGreens and Meijer (for you girls up north!) but it is pretty much just found in random areas right now. Inferno is a coppery red shimmer (picture above is two coats). Right now I only have one more from this collection to swatch.
