All good things must come to an end - even your favorite K-pop groups. Although 2023 is ushering in many new K-pop debuts, there are some groups who fans must say goodbye to. Here is a list of all the K-pop groups that disbanded in 2023.

Some groups disband because they were initially project groups formed by Korean idol competition shows. Others disband due to scandals and controversies surrounding the members. Or sometimes, it's as simple as a group deciding not to renew their contracts with their respective labels. Whatever the reason for their disbandment, it's always hard to watch your bias group separate.

    Disbandment Date: February 14, 2023

    MOMOLAND was originally a seven-member girl group formed through the idol competition show Finding Momoland. They officially debuted on November 10, 2016. Taeha and Yeonwoo left the group in 2019, with Daisy leaving shortly after in 2020.

    MLD Entertainment announced on January 27, 2023 that the remaining members chose not to renew their contracts with the company. They officially disbanded on February 14.

  • Brave Girls

    Disbandment Date: February 16, 2023

    Brave Girls was originally a five-member girl group who debuted on April 8, 2011. The group had gone through multiple line-up changes over the years. Their final line-up consisted of four members: Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji, and Yuna.

    Ten years after their debut, Brave Girls found mainstream success after their 2017 song “Rollin'” became a viral sensation in 2021. As a result, K-pop fans lovingly refer to Brave Girls as a “miracle group” who rose to fame overnight.

    The group announced their disbandment and released their final single “Goodbye” on February 16, 2023. Their agency confirmed that all four members decided not to renew their contracts with the company.

  • Odd Eye Circle

    Disbandment Date: January 13, 2023

    Odd Eye Circle, the second sub-unit of the girl group LOONA, debuted on September 21, 2017. The sub-unit consisted of former LOONA members JinSoul, Choerry, and Kim Lip. They released an EP called Mix & Match.

    Along with six other LOONA members, JinSoul, Choerry, and Kim Lip filed a lawsuit against their label Blockberry Creative to suspend their exclusive contracts. On January 13, 2023, it was announced that the four members who won their lawsuits were HeeJin, JinSoul, Choerry, and Kim Lip, while the other five members lost. Due to their contracts being terminated, JinSoul, Choerry, and Kim Lip left LOONA, subsequently disbanding Odd Eye Circle.

    Disbandment Date: February 28, 2023

    Third generation idols JinJin and Rocky made their debut with Astro in 2016. Four years later, the two members created the group's second sub-unit, appropriately named JinJin & Rocky.

    This year marks Astro's seventh year together and the end of their exclusive contracts. Unfortunately, Rocky made the decision not to renew his contract, leaving Fantagio Entertainment and the group. The company made the announcement of his departure on February 28th, subsequently disbanding JinJin & Rocky.

    Disbandment Date: January 20, 2023

    D1CE debuted on August 1, 2019 with a line-up of five members: Jo Yong-geun, Kim Hyun-soo, Jung Yoo-jun, Park Woo-dam, and Woo Jin-young. Some of the members were former contestants on idol competition shows like Produce 101, MIXNINE, and Show Me the Money.

    Yong-geun and Woo-dam enlisted in the military in 2021, and shortly after, Hyun-soo and Yoo-jun enlisted in 2022. After more than three years of activity, D1CE Entertainment announced on January 20, 2023 that the group had officially disbanded. All five members' exclusive contracts with the label expired as well.

    SNUPER

    Disbandment date: May 3, 2023

    In 2015 six-member boy group Snuper made their debut with the mini album Shall We. The members kept busy throughout the years with multiple Korean and Japanese releases, as well as an appearance on the survival show The Unit

    After seven years of activity, the members' contracts with WIDMAY Entertainment expired. The company confirmed that all six members decided not to renew their contracts, thus disbanding Snuper.

    Disbandment Date: January 1, 2023

    AWEEK was originally a six-member boy group that made their pre-debut in Japan before officially debuting with 7 members on January 31, 2019. On August 21, 2020, it was announced that members Hyeon and Yongjin were leaving the group after being inactive due to personal reasons.

    After AWEEK released their first single album Better Today on June 16, 2020, the group remained inactive for two years without a comeback. They officially disbanded on January 1, 2023. Members Di1e and Logan took to their personal Instagram accounts to announce their disbandment to fans.

    D.COY

    Disbandment Date: February 13, 2023

    The boy group D.COY debuted in 2020 with the single album Color Magic. The group consisted of five members: Jung Min, Hyuk Jin, Won Shin, Sung Woo, and Do Sun. Sung Woo left the group in 2021 due to personal reasons. 

    They officially disbanded on February 13, 2023 after the members decided to terminate their contracts with their label. The group's sub-unit, Lure, subsequently disbanded as well.
