Up In The Air .... Part 56

Another edition of Up In The Air begins featuring the journey from Marrakech to Casablanca on board Royal Air Maroc's Boeing 767...

Liftoff with a view of the olive groves of the Menara Garden...

Marrakech city below us...

The aircraft, despite its age, seems quite powerful...

The rugged terrain...

On the way, the flightpath shows the route...

The rugged features of the land...

Passing by the reservoir of the El Massira Dam...

And we begin our descent into Casablanca...

The approach into Casablanca...

Casablanca, here I come!

The RAM Experience...

Boarding the Royal Air Maroc Boeing 767, flight AT402, heading out from Marrakech to Casablanca. I was looking to my first flight on this airline and this "soon to be" vintage airliner...

The leather seats looked aged and quite frayed...

Checking out RAM or Royal Air Maroc's inflight magazine...

The carrier was the official airline for the just-concluded COP23...

RAM's low-carbon initiatives...

It seemed the RAM IFE is quite nice, for this vintage aircraft, though 50 minutes isn't enough time to get the IFE on...

Showcasing African art on the aircraft fuselages...

The RAM fleet features one Boeing 747-400, four Boeing 767s, a few Boeing 787s while the mainstay of the fleet remains the Boeing 737s...

The route network - RAM flies to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil, cities I would love to visit one day...

Hello Kitty comes to Morocco...

And here we go, goodbye Marrakech...

Plane Spotting At RAK

An exotic airport, my first time here at Marrakech's Menara Airport and that makes it an exciting Plane Spotting opportunity...

Royal Air Maroc's Boeing 737 - but today is particularly exciting because I am flying on Royal Air Maroc the first time and it will be my second flight on a Boeing 767...

And the first time I spot an EasyJet - it's an Airbus A320...

And there are two...

Am excited to see the lineup ahead...

I can't imagine my luck - there's a State of Kuwait Boeing 747-8 BBJ - it's the Emir's flight!

Passengers deplaning from the EasyJet...

A Royal Air Maroc Boeing 737 in a special livery...

A clearer view of the State of Kuwait Boeing 747-8 BBJ...

I am indeed in luck!

A double bonanza - a Qatari Amiri Boeing 747-8 BBJ...

The plane doesn't have markings to identify its ownership, but its registration (A7-HBJ) was a give-away...

Ain't she pretty?

That's my flight to Casablanca...

And here we are...

The bus will circle around to the stairs in a while...

And there we are ready to board...

Fortunately I am in the forward section...

Time to board...

Boarded...

And we taxi now, past the two Boeing 747-8 BBJs from Qatar and Kuwait...

Goodbye Marrakech...
