A Freezing Homecoming!

From 20 degrees or so in Mumbai last evening, I have finally arrived in Korea greeted by a gust of wind, blowing at minus 15 degrees as I exited the Incheon Airport terminal to catch the KAL Limousine back home to Songdo.
That was literally an "icy" welcome!
On the way back on the bus, I battled homesickness by watching the antics of the little kid on the bus clutching a carry bag presumably carrying a gift given to her at the airport. The possessiveness of kids amazes me. Perhaps it is an evolutionary trait that has passed on from the era of scarcity to today's materialistic.

And now comes the humongous task of settling back at home, unpacking and getting ready for the week ahead. The first task at home was to switch on the heating to get the temperature inside to a tolerable 22 degrees. The next task was to head to the supermarket downstairs and get some milk and fruit.
And now I am ready to get into the week ahead with a big "Bring It On!".

Plane Spotting At ICN ... Part 6

My India Trip has come to an end - I have finally landed at Incheon Airport. The disappointment or rather the sense of homesickness was masked quite well by another round of Plane Spotting!

Two birds from Europe - an Alitalia Airbus A330 and a Lufthansa Boeing 747-400...

China Eastern has major operations at Incheon - here you can see a Airbus A320 and an Airbus A330 both from China Eastern and the Air-India Boeing 787 Dream)liner that I had seen earlier today at Hong Kong...

Pushback time for China Eastern Airbus A330...

And she's ready to taxi...

And the Dream)liner from home begins its pushback as well...

And that makes me so homesick. I wish I were on that plane heading back home, again!

Up In The Air .... Part 33

After a feverish round of Plane Spotting at HKG, it was time to head back to Incheon, marking the final leg of my India Trip.

The classic terminal design of Chek Lap Kok airport - Hong Kong airport is indeed huge...

As we fly out I spot a Cathay Pacific Boeing 777 on the taxiway being towed away...

And to my pleasant surprise, my seat was in the forward section of the Airbus A330 - it was supposed to be in the premium economy section, but was being used for the standard economy passengers today...

But I wasn't  complaining at all as I got a lovely wing and engine view...

The cloud cover over Hong Kong and Guangdong Province was quite dense...

...but it cleared up as we crossed Taiwan.

And the brilliant blues appeared...

And in between admiring the Cloudscapes, I watched an interesting Brazilian movie "Que Horas Ela Volta?"! The movie was a brilliant depiction of class differences that exist in modern Brazil...

Overflying Taiwan and I am reminded of the lovely time we had on this island nation a few months back...

And I wished I get to see more of Taiwan, even though it is time to head back to work in Korea!

Plane Spotting at HKG ... Part 10

And my Plane Spotting at HKG continues...

A Cathay Pacific Boeing 777...

An Air China Airbus A321...

Formidable skies indeed!

Asia's World City...

The exotic bird from Papua New Guinea again...

An exciting livery on Cathay Pacific's Boeing 777...

A different view...

Another exotic bird - City Airways...

This exotic bird is from Thailand...

ANA Boeing 767 - it had an Air Japan marking - it turned out that Air Japan operates flights under the ANA brand...

The plane is being loaded for the journey back home!

Garuda Indonesia's Boeing 737...

Japan Airlines Boeing 777...

The first plane I spot after boarding is a United Boeing 777...

Taxiing towards the runway...

The maintenance bay - I spot an American Airlines Boeing 777 and an Atlas Air Boeing 747...

A few more opportunities for spotting before we take off...

A Hong Kong Airlines Airbus A320 on its take off run...

We will be taking off from the 3800 metre long 07R/25L runway this morning...

A Cathay Pacific Airbus A330 beginning its takeoff...

Plane Spotting at HKG ... Part 9

I am back at Chek Lap Kok, my favourite airport for Plane Spotting. My two hour transit stopover gave me sufficient time for a quick breakfast and a relaxed time for photographing the mighty birds!

We landed into Hong Kong with a shroud of mist covering Chek Lap Kok...

But there was no stopping me, for spotting...

The first bird of the day - a SAS Airbus A330, that came in from Stockholm earlier...

And this was the first time I spotted a SAS bird...

The flags of Denmark, Sweden and Norway on fuselage...

An Orient Thai Boeing 747-400...

This was the second exotic find of the day...

And there she is - an Air-India Boeing 787 Dream)liner hides behind a Cathay Pacific Airbus A330...

The Air-India Boeing 787 Dream)liner is being prepared for its flight to Incheon...

A Dragonair Airbus A330 - Dragonair is being renamed Cathay Dragon, and the name change comes with a new livery...

The third exotic find of the day - an Air Nuigini Boeing 737 from Papua New Guinea...

A Cathay Pacific Boeing 777 rests in the distance...

Dragons in action!

Malaysian Airlines Boeing 737...

The Dragonair Airbus A330 waits for her next journey...
