Thrifty Thursday! Less than a Buck - With a Grey Comparison

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Thursday again - time for a thrifty find! Tonight's thrifty polish is a 99¢ polish- Essence Colour and Go Movie Star. And at the end I'll have a grey comparison for you with Dior and Nails Inc.

Movie Star is a medium grey creme. No issues at all - creamy smooth formula, easy application and it dries to s high shine. Two coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos.

How does it compare to other greys? These 3 were the closest I have.

no top coat on any of them

Perfecto is darker with blue undertones. Paddington is darker with green undertones and Gris Montagne is a light-to-medium grey that's a few shades lighter than Movie Star. All cremes. All perfect formulas.

Dior polishes retail for $24.00. Nails Inc. polishes retail for $9.50 (here in the States) and Essence polishes retail for 99¢ in the smaller bottles and $1.99 in the shaped bottles.

What do you think?  Personally I need all 4 of these - they are totally different as far as color. Formula and application are similar.

Comparison Request - a-England Dorian Gray vs. King Arthur

Quick comparison between a-England Dorian Gray and a-England King Arthur

One coat of Dorian Gray on pinky and middle fingers and 2 coats of King Arthur on ring and index fingers.

They are totally different and both have a place in my collection. I do love the formula on Dorian Gray and can see myself wearing that one a bit more often.

Comparison Request - Grey Cremes

I've been wanting to do this comparison for a while and I've had several requests recently so here it is!

It's not "comprehensive" by any means, but I pulled 10 of my grey cremes out for a quick comparison.

None had a bad formula. Barry M was thinner and required two coats while the other 3 *could* be one coaters and had a creamier formula. The best formulas of course were the two Diors. I used two coats on all four and NO top coat.

The Kiko and two Nails Inc. ones had the best formula. The Kiko could be a one coater - very creamy and smooth. The Pure Ice and Zoya were thinner and require two coats. I did use two coats for all five and NO top coat.

Finally, I compared Dior Perfecto and Nails Inc. Paddington. It's hard to tell from the photos, but Perfecto has blue in the base and Paddington has green in the base. It's hard to capture and they're close but not dupes. Both had a great, smooth formula. Two coats on both - no top coat.

Not one of these is what I would call a dupe but the closest I found is Nails Inc. Tavistock Street and Kiko #327 Granite Grey.

So do I need all ten of these?  Well speaking as a true Lacquerhead, yeah. I absolutely do! Would the "normal" person need all of them? Probably not. If I HAD to pick just 3, I'd pick Zoya Dove for a light grey, Kiko #327 Granite Grey for a medium grey and Nails Inc. Paddington for a dark grey. And I'd have to toss in Dior Gris Montaigne to make it an even number. Ha!

EDITED TO ADD!!!

I missed a few grey cremes earlier so I'm tossing in a couple of photos with Zoya Kelly, Orly Decoded...

And still no actual dupes in the bunch!
