Thrifty Thursday! Less than a Buck - With a Grey Comparison

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Thursday again - time for a thrifty find! Tonight's thrifty polish is a 99¢ polish- Essence Colour and Go Movie Star. And at the end I'll have a grey comparison for you with Dior and Nails Inc.

Movie Star is a medium grey creme. No issues at all - creamy smooth formula, easy application and it dries to s high shine. Two coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos.

How does it compare to other greys? These 3 were the closest I have.

no top coat on any of them

Perfecto is darker with blue undertones. Paddington is darker with green undertones and Gris Montagne is a light-to-medium grey that's a few shades lighter than Movie Star. All cremes. All perfect formulas.

Dior polishes retail for $24.00. Nails Inc. polishes retail for $9.50 (here in the States) and Essence polishes retail for 99¢ in the smaller bottles and $1.99 in the shaped bottles.

What do you think?  Personally I need all 4 of these - they are totally different as far as color. Formula and application are similar.

Thrifty Thursday! Starring Essence Do You Speak Love

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

It's THURSDAY! Ever-closer to the weekend again! And it's time for another Thrifty Thursday installment. Today, I have a fantastic RED from the Essence Colour and Go line - Do You Speak Love.

Do You Speak Love is a medium blue-based red crelly. The bottles are 8mL and retail for $1.99. I'm not sure where else they're sold, but Ulta carries them and that's where I got mine. The crelly formula leaves you with the juicy, shiny look with 2 coats for opacity. I used two coats and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. No issues at all to report and on day 2, still not even a smidge of tip wear.

Sorry about the reflection of my camera and fingers! But that just shows how truly shiny this one is. It's a great red crelly and for $1.99 I'd recommend it. What do YOU think?

Good Evening! Tonight I have a pair of the new Essence Twins Reloaded polishes to show you - Carrie and Mr. Big.

Essence Twins Reloaded - Carrie and Mr. Big

Carrie is a vibrant, rich pink creme that applies like magic. ONE COAT for the photos! No issues to report at all. Smooth, perfect self-leveling formula.

Mr. Big is a clear-based glitter topper with various shapes and colors of microglitter. Application and formula were terrific on this one too. I used one coat of Mr. Big as well and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

30 Day Challenge Day Seven - Black & White with Dollish Polish Putting on the Ritzzz!

Dollish Polish Putting on the Ritzzz! over Essence Romeo

Day Seven is Black and White! So I pulled out TWO untrieds...Dollish Polish Putting on the Ritzzz (which I WON from Kim at Overall Beauty) over Essence Romeo (a gift from Ash at AshleyisPolishAddicted.) #winning

The Essence Romeo, a great medium grey creme, went on easily and was opaque in two coats. Loved it! I used two coats of Putting on the Ritzzz and followed up with a coat of Gelous, which made it totally smooth. No issues with Putting on the Ritzzz, I did have to dab the glitters in places to distribute them evenly, but it wasn't too fussy. All the glitter pieces separated nicely and laid flat.

Going Grey

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Eel Skin

With nail polish, that is. I just went through my stash and I only have four grey cremes. Obviously, I need to go nail polish shopping!

So I decided to compare them and then pick one to wear. I used Essence Colour to Go Movie Star, NYC In a Minute Sidewalkers, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Eel Skin and Pure Ice Kiss Me Here.

Grey Nail Polish
Essence was the thickest and hardest to apply and dried darker on the nail than it appears in the bottle. Also, I did two coats of each and the Essence could have used another for complete coverage. I have other NYC polishes and the brush is okay - not great, but okay.  This bottle, however, has a deformed brush. Mangled, actually. But the formula was smooth enough. After the first coat, I was sure it would take 3 coats, but the second one took care of it. The Sally Hansen has the wider brush and the formula was the best of the four and fully opaque in 2 coats. Pure Ice was smooth and easy as well.

Grey Nail Polish
I wanted to see how they looked matte, so I applied a coat of Essie's Matte About You to see.

Greys with Essie Matte About You
I was feeling the color of the Sally Hansen more, so I went with Eel Skin.  I will probably see how I like it tomorrow and then cover it with the matte topcoat.  I really do love matted out greys. And it could also be just that I am wishing so hard for a cloudy day. And rain. It's been so long, I don't think I remember what it looks like. I suppose a thunder storm would just be TOO MUCH to ask for. *sigh*
