Way back in 2007, Microsoft launched SkyDrive, the online file storage predecessor to OneDrive. I was an early adopter and really used SkyDrive, it was intuitive, easy to use and allowed me to sync my data to multiple devices and the cloud. In 2014, Microsoft killed SkyDrive and introduced the platform as OneDrive. The storage and functionality was a bit different from SkyDrive and later OneDrive for Business was introduced, us-ing storage based on SharePoint. Now, Microsoft is giving OneDrive a fresh new look and added some powerful function-ality. They teased this update last month, and it's finally rolling out to OneDrive personal us-ers. By the end of the month, all of us will be enjoying the revamped OneDrive experi-ence. So, what's so new? People View: Say goodbye to the file name memory game. Now, see all the files you col-laborate on with your contacts in one place. File filtering: Want to find all those Word documents or Excel spreadsheets on your OneDrive? Filter files by type, and you have instant organization. One button power: The "Add New" button is now your best friend. Tech Tip Tuesday!!! Today I want to highlight an amazing feature of Microsoft OneDrive. Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud-based storage platform that allows you to access your files anywhere at any time. If your business is using Microsoft Office 365, this platform is included in your subscription. But have you ever taken advantage of the autosave feature and the associated Version History? When enabled, changes are updated to the cloud in real-time. But it doesn't stop there. OneDrive stores multiple versions of your documents so you can easily compare and roll back to a previous version if needed. Anybody who’s ever lost an hour’s worth of work to a computer glitch or power outage will know what a time-saver this feature is. To find older versions in Microsoft 365, click on File > Info > Version History. From there you can review previous versions of your document, and if needed, you can restore that previous version! It's one of those features where if you need it, it can be a life saver! I hope this tip can help in a moment of panic, and save you from having to recreate your work

All throughout my career, I have always felt that some Microsoft services with great potential have often been overlooked and not exploited to their full potential. Though many of us possess a Microsoft 365 subscription, how many of us have ever bothered to try out it's full features and benefits? The Microsoft OneDrive is one such powerful service. We all know it as a less often talked about cloud storage solution. But OneDrive is way beyond that. It is a powerful platform that integrates a ton of Microsoft services, such as Microsoft 365, Outlook, OneNote, etc, to enhance your productivity and collaboration. OneDrive is integrated natively into Windows 10 and 11, syncing files between your devices never a burden. There is no business that doesn't use the Microsoft office apps (now Microsoft 365), be it Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc. OneDrive integrates with Microsoft 365 which helps you view and edit those files saved on the cloud on the full desktop 365 apps, no more forcing you to work on browser based apps. OneDrive gives you the power to collaborate on work, it enables you to co-author documents with other people in real time, and see their changes as they happen. (Which I would put as an incredible innovation that has saved me hours which were to be spent on comparing multiple copies of the same file otherwise.)
