DoorDash CMO Kofi Amoo-Gottfried recently sat down with the Uncensored CMO podcast – hear from him as he shares the story of DoorDash and our mission to empower local economies, how we’ve evolved to meet the needs of our audiences at every moment, and how he defines DoorDash’s culture through the lens of our company values, some of which are shared below:
Acting like a Founder even when you run a $40billion business One of the highlights (and there were many!) in my conversation with Kofi Amoo-Gottfried the CMO of DoorDash on Uncensored CMO was when he started talking about culture He described DoorDash as the best executing company he has ever worked for The culture is a major component of that and anyone who has read The Founders Mentality will immediately recognise what he is talking about He highlighted 4 of the values that drive DoorDash 🚗 Operate at the lowest level of detail Whenever I have worked for Founders this is always striking, they want to discuss things in a very finite level of detail. As Kofi says they break down a complex task into atomic units and then assign precise tasks to getting it done. 🚗 Be an owner Be very clear on your goal and take ownership for delivering it. When you are empowered to act like the owner you take ownership of every situation whether or not its out of scope and no matter how large or small it is. 🚗 Bias for action As Kofi says "time is a currency" and every founder I have worked for had an impatience to get things done fast. At Brewdog James would often ask me how to do it 10x faster than anyone else. Moving fast is a huge competitive advantage when you are a challenger to the dominant players. 🚗 Customer obsessed not competitor focussed If there is one that I have learnt throughout my career it's this one. It's easy to feel removed from the customer but as a former guest on the podcast Kory Marchisotto said success is measured by the distance from the C Suite to the customer. I also like the emphasis on not being competitor focussed because that just leads to you following them and not your customer. Why not check out all the Doordash values here, it reads like a greatest hits of best practice when it comes to culture DoorDash Mission & Value https://lnkd.in/eyKkU3VN To hear more about DoorDash and how they built a $40billion business listen to the latest episode of Uncensored CMO.
