The crew of the Amaltal Apollo has been honoured with a certificate of achievement at the 2023 NZSAR awards for their heroic joint rescue of a solo yachtie! 👏🙌 In extreme conditions 50 nautical miles from Cape Kidnappers, they teamed up with the Moana Chief and No. 40 Squadron Royal New Zealand Air Force to save a sailor whose yacht had lost its mast and engine. The Amaltal Apollo crew, using their sea rescue training, successfully brought the sailor on board, provided medical treatment, and navigated to the closest port. Exciting News from Seafood New Zealand Conference 2023! Last week, Wellington hosted the 2023 Seafood NZ conference. A key part of the event is celebrating excellence in the commercial seafood industry with the Seafood Stars Awards. Our very own Annie Fleming shone brightly by securing the prestigious Young Achiever Award this year! This award is a recognition of her positive impact in the industry, and it's specifically given to achievers under 35. Sharing this honor is the talented Ben Pierce from Mills Bay Mussels. Not just a chartered accountant, Annie is also the Shellfish Division Commercial Manager at Talley’s in Blenheim. Her passion for the industry extends beyond her role, as she contributes to the Marlborough Shellfish Quality Program Board of Executives and holds a directorial position at Clearwater Mussels Limited.
