Le #BurkinaFaso est un État membre d’AfricaRice et soutient le Centre dans sa mission de renforcer la sécurité alimentaire en #Afrique. 🤔Le saviez-vous ? Au Burkina Faso, la demande de riz local est forte et a été estimée à 840 000 tonnes par an pour une production nationale moyenne annuelle de 324 611 tonnes entre 2010 et 2019. Le déficit est quant à lui comblé grâce aux importations. La demande nationale en riz pourrait atteindre 1 500 000 tonnes en 2025, d’où une planification de production de 3 000 000 de tonnes d’ici 2030 dans la stratégie nationale de développement de la riziculture. Avec une production de riz paddy avoisinant les 520 000 tonnes sur seulement 230 000 hectares, le pays peut compter sur la forte disponibilité des terres cultivables pour atteindre son objectif de production rizicole. Au Bénin, le riz est la deuxième céréale la plus consommée après le maïs, et le pays importe près de la moitié de ses besoins de consommation. Le pays ambitionne une production nationale de riz paddy à 1 million de tonnes d’ici la fin de l’année 2025 contre 531 000 tonnes récolté en 2022. Le potentiel en terres rizicultivables, évalué à environ 375 000 ha, n’est exploité qu’à 21 %. 🌾 Africa Rice Center through #TSF project just wrapped up a training session for 16 agricultural SMEs from 5 TSF countries: the #Gambia, #Guinea, #GuineaBissau, #Burkina Faso, and #Liberia. Participants gained vital practical knowledge and skills in seed production, modern good agricultural practices, integrated soil fertility management, irrigation and soil water management, post-harvest technologies, and rice enterprise management. They are now expected to train farmers and other actors from their respective organizations and entire countries within the rice value chain. The overall target for this training initiative is over 50,000 actors who are directly or indirectly linked to these SMEs.🌱🚜 Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation #RiceResearch
