🌱 🐮 Cuddly cows & buttery croissants 🥐 ✨ This week, some of the Number 8 bio team took a field trip to Victoria, and what a productive week it was! First stop — Gelato Messina's dairy and hazelnut farm! We got the chance to meet the cows behind our favourite gelato and couldn’t resist a cuddle 🐄💚. We also took the opportunity to connect with some amazing industry groups including Dairy Australia, Agriculture Victoria, Gardiner Foundation, and AgriZeroNZ. Together, we explored innovative ways to work towards decarbonising the dairy industry 🌍🧑🌾. And of course, no trip to Melbourne would be complete without a stop at Lune Croissanterie 🥐 — yes, they were definitely worth the wait! Closing out our week excited about the possibilities ahead as we continue to drive sustainability in the ag sector! #Number8Bio #BetterFeed #DairyIndustry #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #EntericMethane #Victoria #AgricultureInnovation #DairyAustralia #AgVic Thomas Williams Alex Carpenter Simone Barakat Britt Rinker

🎉 We’re proud to see that our Senior Microbiologist, Silas Vick, has been published in Nature Portfolio! This research, conducted during his time as a Postdoctoral Scientist at NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences, is titled "Unlocking bacterial potential to reduce farmland N2O emissions." It highlights innovative methods to mitigate nitrous oxide emissions from agricultural soils, contributing to global warming. 🌍✨ An incredible contribution to advancing sustainable agriculture - congrats to Silas and the NMBU scientists! 👏 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dNr5mzBH #Sustainability #Innovation #Agriculture #ClimateAction #Nature

What an incredible time at #Beef24! Our top highlights from our week in Rockhampton: 💥 Agtech advances: Walking through Beef Australia 2024, you couldn't help but get excited about the innovation flooding our fields. From smart sensors monitoring everything on the farm to eco-friendly practices that enhance productivity, it’s clear: agtech is making huge strides in what many know as the least digitised industry. 📊 Carbon talks get real: This year, the buzz was all about redefining profit through a greener lens. A shift in farm production economics, with a significant focus on emissions, natural capital and biodiversity. Producers are increasingly valuing the opportunities that sustainably producing food and fibre presents. 🌱 Rocky on the rise: The Westpac Property tours around Rockhampton were a major highlight. It was great to hear from Scott Braund from Mort & Co and Dan Edwards from Rural Funds Management Limited on how they are teaming up with locals to spearhead exciting new projects. These collaborations are bringing state-of-the-art feedlots and sustainable farms to life. 🏆 Agscent’s big win: We loved seeing our friends at Agscent snag the top spot at the 'Pitch in the Paddock'. It’s more than just a win; it’s a testament to the vibrant startup culture brewing within Aussie agriculture. Their success is a beacon for all of us on a mission to innovate sustainable solutions in the agri-sector. 💚 Community & heart: The energy was infectious, with thousands flocking to the event, proving that agriculture is not just about crops and cattle—it’s about people. Between the lively competitions, powerful talks and sundowner sessions, #Beef24 was a week-long celebration of the tight-knit, resilient community that's at the heart of what we do. It was a week that reminded us why we’re so passionate about this industry. Thank you to everyone who made our week in unforgettable. We can't wait for 2027! 🤠🐮 #Number8Bio #SustainableAg #AgTech #Emissions

🎙 Had a fantastic time speaking with Olivia Calver on AgTech Finder's latest podcast! We spoke about how Number 8 bio are using the Agscent sensors at our demo site in NSW. Their real-time, user-friendly sensors made our initial trials a breeze and we're thrilled with the promising results from our trials so far 🚀🐄 Thanks for having me AgTech Finder team!
Episode 25 of our podcast profiles the technology that means you no longer need smell your cow's breath (or, erm, farts). Agscent Breath is a device that can breathalyse a cow to see if it is pregnant or not, while AgScent Air measures #methane #emissions. Featured in this episode with Olivia Calver is David Lamb, Dr Bronwyn Darlington, and Simone Barakat.
