We’re excited to make our first follow-on investment and boost our support in Ruminant BioTech – the Kiwi company developing a methane-inhibiting bolus specifically suited to New Zealand’s pastoral farming system. The bolus has demonstrated impressive results, with the latest trial on cattle showing a 75% daily methane reduction for 100 days from a single treatment. “Ruminant BioTech is proving its technology is working – on animals and in New Zealand, so we’re pleased to make this further investment to accelerate the development of a pasture-based solution for Kiwi farmers," Wayne McNee, AgriZeroNZ chief executive. 👉 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gmTMu-zb Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) | The a2 Milk Company | ANZ Aotearoa | ANZCO Foods | ASB Bank | Bank of New Zealand | Fonterra | Rabobank New Zealand | Ravensdown | Silver Fern Farms Ltd | Synlait Milk Limited Ruth Leary, David Macdonald, Tom Breen #EmissionsReduction #FarmingInnovation #Sustainability #AgriZeroNZ

‘Tools to Shape our Future’ was the theme for this year’s NZIPIM (NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management) conference so it was fitting to have our head of strategy and engagement, Ruth Leary, share the work we’re doing to get emissions reduction tools into farmers' hands. Ruth said the conference was a great opportunity to get in front of rural professionals, given their strong relationships with the farming community, and it was a pleasure presenting alongside other leaders in the sustainability space, which included some of our investors - Turi McFarlane (ASB Bank), Michelle Good (Fonterra Farm Source), Warwick Catto (Ballance Agri-Nutrients Ltd) and Will Murphy (Mangatangi Maramarua Catchment Community). #EmissionsReduction #AgriZeroNZ

Our Senior Leadership Team had a great day in Palmerston North catching up with our peers at the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre. It was fantastic to get together to connect and share strategies on our work to get emissions reduction tools into the hands of Kiwi farmers and have a tour of the enhanced GHG measurement facility. Our chief executive Wayne McNee caught up with Rebecca Greaves to discuss our recent investments and why the challenge of reducing emissions in New Zealand's pasture-based farming systems can be an opportunity. "We are here to deliver tools to help farmers reduce emissions and also improve the efficiency of their farms. We don't want to get rid of animals, we want to see farmers maintain and improve productivity and profitability." Last night we attended the 2024 AmCham New Zealand DHL Express Success & Innovation Awards where we won the ‘Investor of the Year to or from the USA’! 🏆 The US is a key market for us as we scan the globe for emissions reduction tools that will work for New Zealand’s pastoral farming system. 🌎 Our Head of Ventures David Macdonald says: “The US has particularly fantastic technology and VC funds to boot, which we can partner with to bring that technology back into New Zealand for our farmers to use.” To date we’ve invested $20 million across three US companies - ArkeaBio™, Hoofprint Biome and BioLumic – and we look forward to partnering with more in the future. 🤝 Wayne McNee
