For the United Sugar Company of Egypt, which already fulfils 90% of the country’s sugar requirements, DP World Sokhna is a crucial gateway to new markets in their strategic expansion. The port’s comprehensive supply chain solutions and prime location have been vital for the import of raw materials, proximity to manufacturing facilities (just 400 metres from the port), and exports across Africa – significantly reducing both costs and time. Annually, our Sokhna Port hub manages the handling of 600,000 - 800,000 tonnes of sugar as well as an exceptionally wide range of other bulk commodities. We're celebrating the journey of our ports and our people. Twenty years ago, in April 2004, DP World Constanta first opened. It has grown to become the largest container port on the Black Sea and continues to expand within Europe. With new facilities set to be implemented by 2025, we are ready to significantly improve the connectivity between our sea, rail, barge, and truck services across Romania. Over the same two decades, Rashid Abdulla, CEO and Managing Director for DP World's European region, has also been on a transformative journey. Joining us as a graduate trainee in 1995, Rashid moved through the ranks of the organisation with his first oversees assignment as Manager – Container Terminal at DP World Constanta in 2004. More than 28 years after his journey began, he continues to apply new learnings to evolve both personally and professionally alongside the business. The parallel growth between our port and people embodies our collective journey of progress and innovation. Our journey has only just begun.

We were honoured to host HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum at our London Gateway Port and Logistics Park. Alongside our Chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and our Europe CEO and MD Rashid Abdulla, we showcased the new Berth 4, equipped with Europe’s tallest gantry cranes, ready to handle the world’s largest container vessels. Our investments will expand the port and logistics park, creating 12,000 new jobs and boosting the local economy. Together we're excited to continue enhancing trade and logistics services for our customers in the region and beyond.
Last week, I had the honour of hosting HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, at our London Gateway Port and Logistics Park, alongside our CEO and Managing Director of Europe, Rashid Abdulla. We showcased the newly completed 430-metre Berth 4, which is due to open later this month. Equipped with the tallest gantry cranes in Europe, the port can now handle the largest container vessels in the world. We also discussed our investment in the next phase. When completed, three additional berths will make London Gateway the UK's largest port and enable it to meet future market needs. Meanwhile, the expansion of our 9.5 million sq ft logistics park will also create 12,000 new jobs, providing a significant boost to the local economy in line with the UK Government's regeneration plans for the area. Over the past 8 years we have seen the development of our ports and terminals into fully integrated logistics businesses. We look forward to building on this momentum to enhance trade and logistics services and deliver significant strategic value to our UK and European customers.

Today, we proudly welcomed #CoscoShipping’s newest RoRo vessel, ‘Min Jiang Kou,’ to #JebelAliPort for her first regional call. One of the world’s largest RoRo vessels, boasting 13 decks and a 7,500-vehicle capacity, ‘Min Jiang Kou’ is on her maiden voyage along with her sister ship, ‘Liao He Kou.’ These vessels are equipped with LNG dual-fuel engines and advanced green technology that significantly reduces emissions, supporting our wider industry transition to clean energy. Last year, we handled over 600,000 car equivalent units (CEUs) at Jebel Ali Port and today’s visit by ‘Min Jiang Kou’ strengthens Dubai’s position as a gateway for automotive trade, and our shared mission to build a more sustainable maritime industry. #Maritime #CleanEnergy #SustainableShipping #AutomotiveTrade

Our Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, welcomed His Excellency Gabriel Boric, President of the Republic of Chile and His Excellency Alberto van Klaveren, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile to Jebel Ali Port, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations and joint ventures. Building on the momentum established through the signing of the UAE-Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) this week, we are proud to support ambitions of increased investment flows and mutually beneficial sustainable growth in trade and economic cooperation. Over the past five years, non-oil trade between Dubai and Chile has reached AED 5.3 billion, showcasing robust growth and the potential for further collaboration. We are committed to actively supporting Chile’s economic expansion since commencing operations in 2019 at Puerto Lirquén and San Antonio, investing over $80 million in infrastructure and operational excellence. Dubai's state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure, including its thriving ecosystem for F&B trade, serves as a strategic gateway for Chilean exports to global markets. We're poised to support these new connections and foster resilient development in both regions. As we continue to enhance these connections, we look forward to fostering even stronger economic ties and driving shared prosperity for both nations.

Mangroves are essential carbon sinks, capturing large amounts of carbon and protecting coastlines from severe weather conditions. We are expanding our efforts through mangrove restoration projects. Our goal is to restore, enhance and protect the ecosystems and biodiversity in the communities where we operate. As a Global Impact Partner to The Climate Tribe, we highlight our ongoing initiatives at the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary. In celebration of the #InternationalDayForTheConservationOfTheMangroveEcosystem, our Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Maha AlQattan, shares more on our global efforts to protect and restore mangroves. Today, on the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, we celebrate mangroves as nature's guardians, nurturing marine biodiversity, protecting our shores from the forces of nature and increasing resilience against the adverse effects of climate change. The insightful documentary by The Climate Tribe, showcasing the remarkable efforts at the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary, highlights the immense value mangroves provide for our well-being, food security and coastal protection. As a Global Impact Partner to The Climate Tribe, we emphasise the urgent need to protect these vital ecosystems. Speaking on the incredible transformation of the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary, Major Ali Al Suweidi, President of the Emirates Marine Environmental Group and General Secretary for Emirates Nature-WWF, shares how the sanctuary is now home to over 2 million mangroves. Our very own Dr. Jimena Rodriguez, Oceans and Biodiversity Manager at DP World, also provides her valuable insights, emphasising the crucial role of the ocean for humanity and our commitment to safeguarding these vital ecosystems. Our Mangrove Forest Project, in collaboration with execution partner The Storey Group, aligns with the UAE's National Climate Change Plan and the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. We use EcoMatcher technology to track the growth and carbon sequestration of each tree, ensuring transparency of on-ground efforts. With approximately 100,000 seedlings planted, this project aims to sequester 26 tonnes of CO2 over the next 25 years, significantly contributing to SDG 14: Life Below Water. As UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay stated, "Mangroves are a link between land and sea...a haven of life that must be protected." By raising awareness and taking collective action, we can safeguard these vital ecosystems for future generations.
