Thursday Ad Watch (Winners' Edition)

The Commercial Closet Association gave out its 3rd Annual Images in Advertising Awards this week. Below are some of the fantastic winners (the Subaru ad on Gay Street outside Joe Coffee -- where Amy Sedaris sells her cupcakes in the West Village, is my fave!).
You can see the complete list here.

Outstanding Lesbian Portrait: Time magazine/Agency: In-house. The ad asks if gay families “are different” and shows a lesbian couple embracing while holding their newborn child.
Outstanding Interactive Ad (GLBT Internet Media): Lufthansa/Agency: OutNow Consulting. The moving web based ad features a gay couple photographing themselves with a digital camera on a vacation.

Outstanding Print -- Domestic GLBT Media Subaru of America/Signs - Moon City Productions (campaign) // Outstanding Print Ad (Appearing in Mainstream Media): Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams/Agency: In-house. Ad features gay male couple relaxing on their Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams furniture with an explanation of its comfort and design.

Every Way Is A-OK (see Subaru info above) // Outstanding Print Ad (Appearing in U.S. GLBT Media): Subaru of America/Agency: Moon City Productions. One of three gay themed ads focuses on the transgender market with a sequined gown appearing in a row of tuxedos in a man’s closet and copy claiming Subaru too is "ready for any occasion."

Outstanding Print Ad (Appearing in International GLBT Media): Ra-Re/Agency: Flash & Partners. In the ad for European clothing designer, a gay male couple pushes a baby cart together while dressed in the apparel.

Thursday Ad Watch

If wearing a brand I haven't thought of since 1987 can make me look like this, then I GUESS I'll consider it

I wonder if Jonathan Rhys Meyer smells as good as he looks

A bearded hunk for Tommy Hilfiger is almost as good as '90s supermodel Mark Vanderloo for DKNY
"Battlestar Galactica" hunk Jamie Bamber bares all for bears in the latest ad for PETA

Very hot in -- and halfway out -- of Perry Ellis

Australian underwear and sportswear brand, teamm8, continues to up the ante. See what I mean HERE.

Justus Boyz is torso-riffic; this other ad is hot, but I don't think "masculine" underwear accurately describes grown men wit ho bods in Underoos

Rafael Nadal brings us the sweet smell of success

Maybe it's because of its perfect timing, but this Absolut Vodka ad is my hands-down fave ad of the year

Patrick Dempsey is to Avon as Ed Norton is to Breil?
Water works for Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss

Is this what preppy smells like? Jean-Paul Gaultier channels Fassbinder's "Querelle," again ...

This are two ads for Splash bar here in NYC and I can assure you I've never seen any moves like this guy -- or special-ed schoolteacher/nude model Julian Fantechi

Old Spice may not smell very good, but this half-man, half-horse guy is all-hot

    Thursday Ad Watch

    Tony Ward hustles Diesel fragrances

This Abercrombie boy reminds me of Ilan Mitchell-Smith, the kid who wasn't Anthony Michael Hall in "Weird Science"

Is this new jeans ad by Steven Meisel even too steamy for Calvin Klein?

Working out, Dolce & Gabbana style

    Thursday Ad Watch

With a season-ending knee injury, Tom Brady has as much time as his girlfriend does to model (thanks, Movado); I don't know who this Versace god is, but I need to know more ... not that there's anything wrong with the Boss man, either ...

It's been a while since one of my opponents looked like this ...
Obviously this is the hottest International Jock ad they've come up with yet ...
Ashton Kutcher likes looking at pictures of himself more than your blogger does (apparently)

I might consider breaking my ANTI-VIDEO GAME rule for that hunk on the sofa; I think I just found my next pair of glasses, by Guess
Autumn in New York, in GANT (of course)

Always something new and exciting from the good folks at International Jock

Dunlop gets some heavy hitters (and if that now-30something Tommy Haas doesn't get hotter each year ...); nothing rough about looking at this Rufskin boy

Talk about crossing over. Is that Candace Cayne for Match.com? Cleaning up in Vegas
Gray anatomy, for Bloomingdale's and Clairborne by John Bartlett
Kudos to the casting director of this Gap ad. 100 percent!

    Thursday Ad Watch

No one hates Vegas more than I do, but this ad for the Paris hotel is very inviting (ooh la la!) ; Never heard of Aqua Hotels and Resorts before, but something tells me I'll remember 'em now

Male SUPERmodel Chad White for H&M/L.O.G.G.

No question about it, GUESS has another hot model although a St. Regis surfer dude would work equally well ...

Having grown up there, I can't help but find gay tourism ads for Phoenix to be, well, silly. But I will say this one captures the exact spirit of one of the city's most popular bars in the 1980s, good old Preston's on East Thomas Road. The patio was perfect for getting away from someone you were avoiding, and the Sizzler next door was pretty great, too.

Never "got" Derek Jeter (even he said he's the love child of The Rock and a Muppet), but something about him in shirtsleeves works for me, as does the fact that they're running this in a gay mag; the unfortunate GEICO man stole my look from the Village Racquet Club days, I'm afraid ...

    Evandro Soldati for Triton
    Hayden Christensen for Lacoste

The ad says Grown in Los Angeles, but sexy Edilson Nascimento is all Brazilian

Rene Russo wears a sexy man and some Brian Atwood shoes
