icy day ...yay!

The kids were so thrilled that it snowed all day on Tuesday!  They were at school and got to play outside on the playground while it was snowing.

I was home alone with the pups watching the huge flakes fall.  I kept wondering if school would be released early, but it wasn't.

The snow piled up just as fast as it melted, but school was cancelled on Wednesday.  I was shocked, but the roads had to be back after all the snow on the roads on Tuesday night.

The kiddos couldn't wait to get on the icy trapoline!

They bundled up snug as bugs and jumped all the snow flakes away.  There were clumps of ice left over and they had fun tossing those all around the yard and at the windows!  I almost had a freak attack!  Hayden has quite the arm and I thought he was going to bust out a window.  :o

Thankfully the kids are back in school today and since we've only had two bad weather days this year they still get the full week off next week for winter break.  I'm not even kidding....these kiddos get more breaks!   Spring break is the first week of April!

Hope you are staying warm!

42!

Gary is 42 years old!!

We are expecting snow here in Georiga!  As the clouds began to move into the area we decided to stay close to celebrate.  There is a Longhorn Steakhouse nearby, so we all ate steaks.

The bread was so delicious.  I made sure I just ate one piece 'cause I could have taken down the whole loaf with that warm sweet butter.

My food was out of the world delicious, but it didn't photograph well at all.  It's actually quite disgusting looking.  I got a fillet topped with lobster and hollandaise sauce.  It was sitting on asparagus and served with mashed potatoes.  It was a great steak full of flavor and yummy lobster pieces.  Gary ordered a ribeye and he enjoyed it.  He is kind of a steak snob.  He prefers to grill steak at home so it's cooked to his liking.  He was pleasantly surprised by a nice juicy steak!

The kiddos ordered smoothies as their drink and they were topped with whipped cream and cherries.  It seemed like they ordered dessert first!  We had a nice birthday dinner and then we headed home to sit by the fire.  The weather is nice and cold and perfect for some snow.   We are hoping to get snow tonight since we had a snow day today.  The kids were home from school and watched for snow all day long, but all we got was rain.  Hopefully they will wake up to some white stuff to play in!

Happy Birthday to Gary!

snow day!!

It snowed in the middle of the night and we have a nice coating of snow!

The snow made Lily super hyper and spastic.  She was running around the yard and the deck like a mad woman.

Daisy Mae was not loving the snow.  She's a princess and hates to have wet paws.

I love this picture of her looking down the stairs!

Lily sat on the stairs and watched the action down below.  She's a great babysitter because I was cold!  I didn't want any part of being out in the snow.  I got my fill of that in Ohio.

The kids decided to sled down our sidewalk in the backyard.

I have to admit it looked fun until the snow and ice melted.  Then the sliding wasn't going so well and they had to move onto another fun activity.

Like building a snow ghost with a pinecone 'bow'.  Ha!  Silly girl!

Hayden found a fun pine cone treasure.  It was pretty cool!

After lunch they headed back out for some sledding in the front yard.  They made tons of snowballs with plans of tossing them at people as they walked down the street, but no one ever walked by.

We had a fun first day of snow here in our new house in our new state!

Snow day with friends

We are thankful to have buddies that will play in the snow with us!

We had a blast for the 40 or so minutes we played outside yesterday.

IT WAS SO COLD!

Dog pile!!!!  I loved hearing all the giggles coming from these babes!

can we go back to school? please?

The kids are home again today for another snow day.

I think they are super bored and I know I am ready for them to get back to learning!!

Today we did chores and homework and they really didn't complain too much.  The windows are clean and the leather couch got scrubbed really well.  Layla wrote her spelling words and Hayden wanted to write his numbers.  He wrote them all the way to 105.

I'm loving sitting beside them while we watch movies and they play Mindcraft.  I've been wearing out pinterest!  I've discovered many new recipes and crafting ideas.  I also pinned a workout or two and did them.  Having them home isn't so bad, but I just know they need to get their learn on.  School is cool!

back to school . back to school

The children are finally back in school after several days of no school and many 2 hour delays.

I know why they schedule spring break in the spring.  It's so the children can play outside. OUTSIDE!  They can't play outside when it is -13 degrees.  Kids and parents locked in the house for days on end can start to go stir crazy.

I feel like I'm crazy.

I'm going to enjoy doing nothing today.  All alone in my house.

Can you tell I am losing it? haha!
I'm not really, but I am ready for routine to come back in full force.

snow day getaway at a local hotel

All the kids and moms I know were craving something fun to do since we are stuck inside the house due to the super cold weather.

Record low temps here in Ohio =  major cabin fever!

Sooooo we all got hotel rooms and decided to swim the day away!

We may have let the kids jump on the beds for a few minutes.  We ate pizza and swam and had a huge sleepover.  Our rooms were right next door to one another and they were adjoining!!  How fun is that?!?!?

We all got up and had breakfast in the hotel and swam some more!

We made some fun memories and the kids swam all their energy out!!!
Mission accomplished!

Christmas tree turned rocket ship!

I took down all our Christmas decorations right before the snow storm hit.  I drug that big ole tree outside all by myself with a little help from the kids while Gary was at work.  It was one of those day where I just wanted to clean the entire house.  I was tired of the needles covering the living room floor.  I didn't really think about were to put the tree, I just pushed it off the porch and left it, thinking Gary would dispose of it for me.

And then it snowed several inches.

And the kids devised a plan to use that tree.

And of course I took pictures!

Rocket ship blasting through the sky....

And Lily joins in on the rocket party!

They began to shove one another off the tree and into the mounds of snow.

The giggles made me smile.

Oh what fun!!
