Instagram Wednesday

Grey, Ochre, and Black is my new favorite color combination. I love it! I've been wearing it and using it in my artwork too. I've bought patterned paper, embellishments and fabric in this palette. I just can't get enough!
What is your most favorite color combination?

Color Inspiration

I know I told you I'd be posting photos of my vintage finds from our last trip up to the cottage. I haven't forgotten. I've been busy with this and that. Besides the rain clouds that have been lurking overhead for the past few days haven't made for good picture taking weather anyway. I'll post those pics soon. I promise. In the meantime, enjoy this yummy peach inspiration mosaic.

Summer Cottages

Blogger has been causing problems the last few days and so that is why I haven't been posting. It seems to be working for the moment, however there seems to be changes to the system that I am not exactly thrilled with. What a pain! I wish they would leave well-enough alone. So be patient with me as I try to adapt to all the new-fangled features.

After my last post about that cute little artist's cottage, I decided to do a search on Flickr to see if I could find some other fun summer cottages. During my search I was surprised at what some people consider a cottage to be. Wikipedia describes a cottage as "a modest dwelling, typically in a rural, or semi-rural location." That is sort of the same thing I picture in my mind when I think of a quaint little cottage. But some people have pictures of what I consider to be huge mansions tagged with the word cottage. I guess it's all in the mind of the beholder.

I couldn't figure out how to add the links to each of the cottage photos shown above with this new version of Blogger, but if you are interested I do have them linked up over on Flickr right here.

White on White

I adore the look of 'white on white' decorating. How about you? It's so simple. So fresh. Such a clean and restful look. None of the rooms in my home are decorated completely in this monochromatic color scheme. My family room is the closest to having this look with it's cream walls and white painted trim, but it's more of a white & black designed room.
There are so many shades of white out there. I think that is the secret to using the color successfully. Using all the various shades of white creates the depth and texture that is needed to pull it off. Look at how Jennifer from The Old Painted Cottage did it here with her amazing cottage redo.  Another great place to see the use of  'white on white' is at Aina's Modern Country blog here.  Her Norwegian style decor is so refreshing.
The photo above from Seasons For All shows how bright and elegant a 'white on white' decor can make a room.
And the warmth that can be created by using a variety of creamy white vintage items like in the photo above from Country Living
Or maybe you prefer to punch up your white decor with a pop of color like in the photo shown above from Freshome.  Do you have a favorite photo of 'White on White'?  If so, leave a link to the photo in the comments section on this post. Your photo doesn't have to be limited to home decorating. It can be photos of food or fabric or artwork, etc. Use the mosaic at the top of this post for inspiration. We can all have some fun checking them out.

Back to School

It's that time of the year again.
New backpacks, new school clothes, new box of crayons,
new lunch boxes, new school year!

In other news - Last week I received the sweetest email from Jennifer (The 3 Maries) asking me if she could feature my etsy shop on her blog. What a nice surprise! The feature is up on her blog here today. Be sure to check it out!!! And after that you should run on over to Jennifer's wonderful shop here, where she sells both handmade and vintage items. She has a huge selection of vintage children's books that are worth the trip. Thanks again, Jennifer:)

Garden Arbor

This collage shows some of the beautiful varieties of Clematis growing up and over the arbor constructed just for them.

At the other end of the arbor was this serene sitting area lined with mosaic benches created by different artists.

Monday Mosaic

Just a little lovely inspiration for your eyes on a Monday morning......enjoy!!!

And if all that wasn't enough inspiration for you, just feast your eyes on this little beauty. . .

It's a brand new self-published book, chock-full of all my favorite artist's creations and ideas, called "Postmark:LA." It sounds divine, doesn't it? My copy is already ordered, but you can get one of your very own right here!
