Visit Salt Lake City: The Pie Pizzeria

We tend to order pizza often when traveling.  It's easy, convenient, cost-effective, and delicious!  The Pie Pizzeria was one of several pizza shops we ordered from while in Utah.

These "breadsticks on a pan" were so delish!  They were covered in garlicky goodness. 

Mountain of Meat

The Mountain of Meat was piled high with pepperoni, ham salami, sausage, and ground beef.  If you are a meat lover, this pizza is for you!

Chicken Ranch

If you love ranch on your pizza, you'll love the Chicken Ranch, which was also topped with bacon, tomatoes, and onions.

Both pizzas were cheesy with a nice, toothsome crust.  They did not skimp on toppings, and we enjoyed everything we ordered.

Visit Maui: Manoli's Pizza Company

While on Maui we ordered pick-up from Manoli's Pizza Company so we could eat in the comfort of our suite.

Homemade Garlic Bread

The Homemade Garlic Bread was unsliced (unlike the photo on the online menu), which I thought was odd and inconvenient, but it was very garlicky!

Raging Bull Meat

The Raging Bull Meat pizza came topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, mozzarella & pomodoro sauce. The crust was thin and crispy, and the toppings were plentiful.

Pizza is always a good idea!

Visit Dallas: Cane Rosso

While in Dallas, a friend's husband suggested we go to Cane Rosso.  Cane Rosso is a Texas pizza chain that started out in mobile food service.  

We went to the Deep Ellum location and ordered take-out.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

The Cheesy Garlic Bread was just as cheesy and garlicky as one would expect.  Very delish!

Jabroni

The Jaborni pizza was topped with pepperoni, tomato sauce, house mozzarella, and pesto.  The pizza crust had a really nice char, and all of the toppings combined for a very great pizza.  I especially loved the drizzle of pesto throughout.

Maybe next time we'll have time to dine in!

Wicked Hi Pizza

We wanted to get something easy to eat at the beach, so we picked up pizza from Wicked Hi Pizza.  We've had their pizzas before at their cafe, and I just love their honey slushes!

Honey Dragonfruit Lemon Slush

While we waited for our pizzas to be made, we had some Honey Dragronfruit Lemon Slush.  I just love that drizzle of honey - it really turns an already great slush into something so amazing!

Meat Lover

The Meat Lover comes with your choice of meat (we opted for Pepperoni).  It had a nice amount of cheese and pepperoni.  I do wish the crust was a bit crisper, but it did have some nice char on parts.

Hawaiian Lava

The Hawaiian Lava has smoked ham pineapple, and a local spice lava honey drizzle.  

Garlic Cheesy Bread

I loved the hint of honey on the Garlic Cheesy Bread.

Uncle's NY Deli, Pizza, Pasta, & Subs

We recently had takeout from Uncle's NY Deli, Pizza, Pasta, & Subs.

NY Italian

I loved the NY Italian, which had ham, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, salt, pepper, oil, and vinegar.  It was absolutely delicious and one of the best hoagies I've had in a long time.

Garlic Knots

The Garlic Knots were great with the perfect amount of garlicky goodness. 

Pepperoni Pizza

The pizza slices are huge! They gave ample pepperoni, and the crust had a nice char. 

Pickle Sub

The Pickle Sub is pricey ($15), but I read that those large pickles can be difficult to source.  It's a good option for those on low carb diets.

Everything we ordered was great!

Visit Kentucky: Fesslers Legendary Pizza & Hoagies

We ended up in Bellevue, KY for ice cream, but we saw a nearby pizza spot with great reviews on Google, so we decided to detour and eat some pizza first at Fesslers Legendary Pizza & Hoagies.

First off, be sure to get the Garlic Bread with Cheese.  It was so cheesy, with just the right amount of garlic.  It was some of the best garlic bread I've had anywhere!

The Supreme

The Supreme Pizza was my fave of the two pizzas we ordered.  It was just loaded with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, bacon, and green olives.  I loved the addition of the green olives, which gave it a nice, salty punch.

The crust was thin and crispy.  

BBQ Chicken & Bacon

The other pizza we ordered - BBQ Chicken & Bacon, was loaded as well, but I thought the chicken was a bit overcooked.  

Overall, the food was great, and I would highly recommend Fesslers if you're in the mood for pizza.

Don't forget the garlic bread!

Da Big Kahuna’s Pizza

Da Big Kahuna’s Pizza first opened its doors in 1994, but has remained locally owned and is now centrally located at the Airport Trade Center. Da Big Kahuna makes their own dough every day which ensures their pan pizzas, sandwiches, and not to be missed garlic cheese balls are especially fresh and delicious.

I’ve been a fan of Big Kahuna’s since their Mapunapuna days and love that their pizzas come in a small personal size as well as regular. My favorite pizza is the Sumo Special Pizza topped with pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, bacon, Portuguese sausage, kalua pork, onions, fresh mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, and black olives. I favor barbeque so I also love the Paniolo Beef Brisket Sandwich. No matter what you order, make sure to try the garlic cheese balls that are baked in butter and garlic and topped with five cheeses. Visit Dallas: Zoli's

It was another long day of exploring Dallas, and we weren't in the mood for a huge meal for dinner, so we simply ordered pizza from Zoli's. 

CBR

The CBR Pizza was topped with chicken, bacon, pickled jalapenos, and ranch, and had an "everything-bagel" crust!  I liked the combination of the toppings, and I enjoyed the saltiness of the crust.

Yankee Stadium Garlic Bread

The Yankee Stadium Garlic Bread was really delicious!  It was a seeded roll with garlic butter, mozzarella, Locatelli pecorino, parmesan, and oregano.

Visit Tulsa: Andolini's Pizzeria

We usually get pizza on our trips because it's just convenient to eat back at the hotel, especially after a long day of road trips.  After driving to Arkansas, we headed back to Oklahoma and picked up Andolini's Pizzeria on the way.

Garlic Knots

I loved the Garlic Knots!  Fried dough was drenched in garlic butter, oregano, and Romano cheese.  So delish!

Andolini's Combination

Andolini's Combination consisted of pepperoni, genoa salami, mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers, black olives, ground beef, and house-made Italian sausage.  They did not skimp on toppings - the pizza was just loaded!  The crust was crispy with a nice chew.

1/2 Peppa Pig, 1/2 BBQ Chicken

The Peppa Pig pizza consisted of peppadew peppers, pancetta, genoa salami, ricotta, and spicy honey.

The BBQ Chicken consisted of BBQ sauce, smoked mozzarella, chicken, and then smothered with crispy onion strings.  

Of all the pizza varieties we ordered, I loved the BBQ Chicken the best, because I love onions!

Visit Charlotte: Brixx

Disclosure: I immediately contacted the restaurant about our food that I posted below, and management responded "next time you are in for an order let the manager on duty know your name and we will have a card in the office to take care of a couple of items to try and make up for it."

We seem to be having some bad luck with pizza spots lately.  

We ordered take-out pizza from Brixx while in Charlotte.

Brixx Salad

The Brixx Salad had a spring mix of greens with house white balsamic vinaigrette, pistachios, and goat cheese.  

4x4 and Bronx Bomber

We got half 4x4 (4 meats = sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto, and bacon, + 4 cheeses = mozzarella, Parmesan, gouda, and goat), and half Bronx Bomber (spicy sausage, prosciutto, mozzarella, gorgonzla).   The pizza was good, with a nice, crispy, charred crust.  The toppings looked a bit hastily put on, but it was not nearly as bad as the S'mores Dessert Pizza.

You can just look at it and tell that it was a complete disaster (feel free to check out the website to see what it really is supposed to look like), and whomever put it together did not put any effort or care that they actually let a pizza leave the restaurant like that.  

I appreciated how management tried to remedy the situation right away, and I hope they addressed the cooks that such a thing is a reflection of the entire Brixx team.

Visit Atlanta: Mellow Mushroom

While on the plane to Charlotte, North Carolina, I overheard someone say Mellow Mushroom had some of the best pizzas.  We did see Mellow Mushroom while in Charlotte, but we decided to wait until we got to Atlanta to try Mellow Mushroom, since it originated in Atlanta. 

It was New Year's Day, and we were glad they were still open for dinner.  

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Merry Prankster

The Merry Prankster had an herb aioli base, chicken, Italian sausage, garlic roasted red peppers, green bell peppers, mozzarella, Wisconsin aged white cheddar, and herb aioli drizzle.

Funky Q Chicken

The Funky Q Chicken was topped with shredded mozzarella, BBQ chicken, sharp cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, applewood-smoked bacon, and BBQ sauce.

House Special

The House Special consisted of red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, honey ham, applewood-smoked bacon, black olives, sliced mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, green peppers, sweet onions and more mozzarella.
 

Everything was delicious!  The Spinach Artichoke Dip was so creamy and cheesy, and the crust on all of the pizzas was just perfect - thin and crispy, but with a nice char and chew.  

All of the pizzas were good and loaded, but if I had to choose a fave, it would be the House Special.  You just can't go wrong with classic pizza toppings!  

It was a busy night, and they were short-staffed because they let staffing go early thinking it would be a slow night, but we didn't mind the wait for our food, since we were just so happy that we found a place that could seat us.

Highly recommend Mellow Mushroom if you love pizza!  There are locations Nationwide!

Original Magoo's Pizza

Original Magoo's Pizza is known for more than just pizza.  One of my favorite things from their menu is the Hot Ham & Mushroom Sub, something I haven't eaten in years.

Magoo's Famous Combo Pizza was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, and olives.

Fried Chicken Wings

The Fried Chicken Wings were really good - some of the best I've had anywhere - crispy skin, tender and juicy meat, and seasoned just right.  

Handcut Fries

Unfortunately, the Handcut Fries were pretty awful.  Just opening up the box, you could just see and smell that they were burnt.  What is even more surprising is that after searching online, numerous people have complained about the burnt fries, and the restaurant thinks this is the way Handcut Fries are supposed to end up.  

If you go to Original Magoo's Pizza, stick with the pizza, chicken, or subs, and skip the fries.

Pizza Press Offers Great Pizza and Fundraising Opportunities

The Times

Last night, my daughter’s high school cheer team held a fundraiser at the Pizza Press in Pearl Highlands. The Pizza Press offers in-store fundraising for local non-profit organizations. A portion of the proceeds of the day goes to the non-profit team! What a great way to enjoy a night out with the family while supporting a great cause.

The Pizza Press’ theme is 1920’s American newspapers. Diners can “publish” a pizza by building their own or they can order a signature pizza named after American newspapers.  My son ordered the Times (chicken, grape tomato, red onion, and finished with fresh cilantro and BBQ sauce) while I order the Post – a two topping pizza with sauce and cheese of my choice. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks and for dessert had an ice cream float and deep dish cookie topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Everything was delicious except we thought the cookie was a little underbaked. The Pizza Press also offers chicken wings, signature salads, and a bar with drink specials. There’s lots of seating and the service is great!

Located inside Chicken in a Barrel in Waimea is Da Pizza Place.  

Meat Lovers

The Meat Lovers consisted of pepperoni, Italian sausage, and bacon.  It sure was loaded, and the family loved it.  

Loaded Fries

The Loaded Fries were indeed loaded - topped with cheese, pico de gallo, cilantro sauce, and chicken (you could also opt for pork, or beef for extra).   I thought the chicken was under-seasoned, but all the other toppings made up for the bland, dry chicken.

Da Pizza Place was a convenient option for easy eats while in Waimea!
