Visit Atlanta: Ponce City Market

I love going to food halls, and one day in Atlanta we visited Ponce City Market.

We ordered:
Maduros from El Super Pan

Olive Sofrito Chicken

Media Noche from El Super Pan

Quesadilla from El Super Pan

The Original H&F Cheeseburger from H&F Burger Bar

Strawberry Lemonade Popsicle from King of Pops

Banana Pudding Popsicle from King of Pops

I shared the Olive Sofrito Chicken Sandwich with one of my kids. It was a huge sandwich, although I did think the chicken was a bit on the dry side.

I loved the Banana Pudding Popsicle from King of Pops. It reminded me of the banana pudding pops that were popular when I was a kid.

One thing that did catch me off guard - as I was getting ready to leave and throw away the leftover fries and a leftover piece of the quesadilla, someone immediately came to our table to ask for for them. He begged, saying he was hungry and homeless, so we gave the leftovers to him.

While it Atlanta we actually had many people come up to ask asking for money or for food, but we were just not expecting it at the Market.

Visit Atlanta: Mushi Ni

We went to the The Chattahoochee Works Food Hall and I stumbled upon Mushi Ni.  I'm so glad I did, because my meal here was one of my favorites while in Atlanta!

Chili Garlic Pork Dumplings

Manila Adobo Chicken Bowl

I ordered the Manila Adobo Chicken Bowl, and the elements in the bowl were just bursting with flavor!  The shredded chicken had a nice tang and the pickled vegetables offered nice crunch and tartness.  The fried brown rice offered a nice base for the generous toppings.

Mushi Ni specializes in baos and bowls, so you can get the toppings as a filling in baos buns if you prefer!

Visit Atlanta: Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Disclosure: Complimentary CityPASSes were received.

The Fernbank Museum of Natural History is one of the attractions you can visit with the Atlanta CityPASS.

The Fernbank Museum of Natural History combines science, history, and nature, offering an enriched experience for all who visit.

During our visit, Vikings: Warriors of the Sea was the special exhibit, and it was quite fascinating to see so many artifacts of the Viking Age.

They even had a replica of a Jelling runestone.

Other exhibits included Reflections on Culture, A Walk Through Time in Georgia, World of Shells, and Giants of the Mesozoic.

My kids' favorite exhibit was Fantastic Forces, where there were numerous interactive exhibits through which the kids could experiment with the forces of nature and physics, and learn by building, pulling, spinning, and more.

My favorite part of the museum was the WildWoods and Fernbank Forest.  It was so nice to explore the outdoors and learn more about the plants and animals that are native to the area.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History offered all sorts of fun and interesting exhibits for visitors of all ages!

Visit Atlanta: Mary Mac's Tea Room

Mary Mac's Tea Room is a mainstay in Georgia, and one of my favorite restaurants that we dined at in Atlanta.

Complimentary Cornbread

Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon Rolls used to be given complimentary at the start of the meal, but now they are on the menu, but still super cheap ($5 for a dozen!).

Deviled Eggs

At Mary Mac's, each guest is given his or her own ticket to write down their order.

I had the "Veggie Plate," which really was just 4 sides.  I chose the Pot Likker (a soup made of collard greens), Fried Green Tomatoes, Hoppin' John, and Cornbread Dressing & Gravy.   It was so much food!  I really enjoyed every dish!

Veggie Plate

Chicken Wings Plate

Fried Chicken Legs

Chicken Tenders Plate

Each plate came with two sides, and other options included Mac & Cheese, Fried Okra, and Rice and Gravy.
Peach Cobbler
Banana Pudding

We shared two desserts, and of the two, the Banana Pudding was by far my favorite.  It was the best Banana Pudding I've ever had anywhere - so familiar, and so yummy!

Everything was so delicious.  The food was cooked from scratch, and the service was excellent, even during a peak time.

Mary Mac's Tea Room is a must while in Atlanta!

Visit Atlanta: Mellow Mushroom

While on the plane to Charlotte, North Carolina, I overheard someone say Mellow Mushroom had some of the best pizzas.  We did see Mellow Mushroom while in Charlotte, but we decided to wait until we got to Atlanta to try Mellow Mushroom, since it originated in Atlanta.

It was New Year's Day, and we were glad they were still open for dinner.

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Merry Prankster

The Merry Prankster had an herb aioli base, chicken, Italian sausage, garlic roasted red peppers, green bell peppers, mozzarella, Wisconsin aged white cheddar, and herb aioli drizzle.

Funky Q Chicken
The Funky Q Chicken was topped with shredded mozzarella, BBQ chicken, sharp cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, applewood-smoked bacon, and BBQ sauce.

House Special
The House Special consisted of red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, honey ham, applewood-smoked bacon, black olives, sliced mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, green peppers, sweet onions and more mozzarella.

Everything was delicious!  The Spinach Artichoke Dip was so creamy and cheesy, and the crust on all of the pizzas was just perfect - thin and crispy, but with a nice char and chew.

All of the pizzas were good and loaded, but if I had to choose a fave, it would be the House Special.  You just can't go wrong with classic pizza toppings!

It was a busy night, and they were short-staffed because they let staffing go early thinking it would be a slow night, but we didn't mind the wait for our food, since we were just so happy that we found a place that could seat us.

Highly recommend Mellow Mushroom if you love pizza!  There are locations Nationwide!

Visit Atlanta: Sugar Daddy Cookies

We were in the mood for something sweet after lunch, so we headed to Sugar Daddy Cookies.   Sugar Daddy Cookies was born out of the COVID pandemic, with a nice variety of cookies.

We couldn't decide on which flavors to get, so we got them all!

Mr. Jones - Dairy Free Cinnamon Drumoll Coolie

Mr. Larry - Lemon Cookie

Mr. Randolf - Vegan Oatmeal Raisin

Mr. Samuels - Sugar Cookie

Mr. Roosevelt - Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip

Mr. Barry - White Chocolate Cranberry

Mr. Clifford - Chocolate Chip

Mr. Walter - White Chocolate Chip Macadamia

Mr. Percy - Chocolate Chip Pecan

Mr. Raymond - Peanut Butter

Sugar Daddy even has a brownie!

Mr. Brown - Chocolate Brownie

I am a purist, so I went for the Chocolate Chip.  Although it was more on the crispy side, and I'm team chewy, I thought it was good!  I liked the classic flavors and combinations, and the flavor names are fun!
