How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400F, grease 12 muffin cups.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking soda and spice in a bowl.
  • Seperately, mix the brown sugar, starter, egg, vanilla, maple extract and apple sauce.
  • Gently mix the wet ingredients into the dry, just until mixed.
  • Fold in the raisins.
  • Bake 18 minutes.
  • Cool 3-5 minutes in tins, then turn out onto a rack and cool completely.

    I've used sour dough starter,from my grandmother,I was able to keep it alive for several years,but when I moved, did not take it with me at the time.You have made me think about starting one again.Thank-you for the memory and the recipe.
