Sweet And Sour Red Cabbage

- Can be made vegetarian w/o the bacon) shopping list
- 2 Tbs vegetable oil shopping list
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced shopping list
- 1/2- 1 apple, peeled, cored, chopped shopping list
- 4 C thinly sliced red cabbage (about 3/4 lb.) shopping list
- 1/4 C good quality apple cider vinegar shopping list
- 1/4 C sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp celery seed shopping list
- 1/4 C diced Canadian bacon (or regular) shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil in heavy large saucepan over med-high heat. Add onion and apple and sauté until golden, about 7 minutes..............................
- Add cabbage and vinegar, sugar and celery seed and cook until cabbage is crisp-tender and liquid is reduced to glaze, about 10 minutes. Mix in bacon. Season with salt and pepper.
