Sonoran Hot Dog Recipe

How to make it

  • Wrap a piece of bacon around each hotdog.
  • Fry the bacon wrapped hotdog until the bacon is crisp.
  • Cook the pinto beans according to directions.
  • Slice a pocket into each hot dog bun, and insert the bacon wrapped hot dog into the bun.
  • Top the hot dog with some of the pinto beans, chopped onion, chopped tomato, mustard, green chili salsa, and finally top with the mayo.

    We lived in Hermosillo,Mexico for a year, its in the Sonoran desert area. We ate Sonoran dogs several times. The ones they served were this: pork or turkey based hotdog, wrapped in bacon, deep fried, then put into a steamed sweet bun, like Hawaiian rolls type, then topped with crumbled, fried fresh chorizo sausage, lightly sweet mayo based coleslaw, sauteed onions, diced fresh onions,chopped tomatoes and a drizzle of mayo.. Delicious!!

    Good stuff and a nice Hot Dog change-up. Good on you for specifying BEEF hot dogs. We get an all beef, slightly smoked job here that will be terrific for this. Grazzi. RJ
