Nora Roberts is an outstanding writer and author, and “Inheritance” brings to life on pages her storytelling abilities. This was a captivating novel that kept me glued to the pages until the end. I very rarely read Nora Roberts but when I do, it is well worth the time and energy because she brings to life the characters on every page that makes it so hard to put down the book. I pretty much not into time-travel novels but this one involved Vikings, dragons, demi-gods and everything I like in a fantasy fiction romance. Both the hero/heroine were relatable characters that exuded plenty of chemistry, steamy and intimacy as their inner dragons connected to the core. The plot was good, story well-written and had its share of mystery and suspense. I've not read the other novels/series that bring you up to this point of this latest series, but I gander they are good also that I am going to have to check them out....more

I did enjoy the narration by Lola James, Aiden Snow and Aaron Shedlock who provided a very good performance of the characters. My two stars is for the annoying heroine, Elena that will not accept help when she desperately needs it...and the money. Five supposedly younger neighbors...all wolves where one pics up on her being a mate but the Alpha by default who is the younger sibling to her best friend and acts more mature than his sister, decides to mate her for the pack sake so they all can have privy to Elena. My first time listening to one of Auryn Hadley novels that I thought was well-written but for me all over the place and not what I was expecting. About 55%-60% into the story it became a repeat recording of a RH relationship. This story was lacking something and I don't know what. Fourteen hours of jumping throughout the listen where the heroine appeared cowardly, 14 year old daughter ran the mother's life, and repetitive mentioning of transmitted diseases. I do love a paranormal wolf story but this was just not it for me....more

I rarely dabble in erotica romance, but I couldn’t resist wanting to read this book when I read its description. “The Dark King” is a first time read by Gina L. Maxwell, new author to this reader. A book that was scrumptiously and wonderfully good to read.
Bryn Meara, unemployed and far from Wisconsin, goes on a relaxing trip to Las Vegas after losing her job. Invited to stay for free at the most influential hotel on the strip, she locks eyes with Caiden Verran, owner of the hotel and king of his underworld, the Dark Fae. A night of drinking, dancing and unmemorable sex, they wake up in her suite married … activating an old curse that have them staying in close proximity to one another. Not knowing why or what has happened, they try to figure out how they have ended up in this predicament.
Caiden and Bryn are total opposites… she is preternatural and hard to read to his dark, handsome, controlling and radiating wealth and sex. He is dominant between the sheets, and she is his willing submissive. At the beginning of this story, my impression was reading this book as purely BDSM, however the plot twist incorporates erotica with a bit of mystery. The other characters in the story complement the H/h. There is plenty of chemistry, tenderness between the two, and plenty of sensual scenes. What made this book romantically good for me was the author incorporating seduction, paranormal, and mystery/suspense…and not leaving this as solely erotica.
Thank you, Ms. Maxwell, for piquing my interest and looking forward to the next in this series if it is written along the same lines. Highly recommend as you won’t regret reading....more

I am a fan of paranormal stories and especially have become interested in shapeshifters in regency readings. Typically, I read wolf shifters so I thought I would request the opportunity to read something other in the paranormal shifting genre. “A Duke at the Door” was confusing, and I could not really understand the plot. In the beginning, the writing totally lost me…not sure if the writer tried too hard in wording description that I later truly lost interest ½ the way through this story.
No reflection on the author and I am quite sure this is a cute paranormal romance, however if it is centered solely on a couple of shifters…say the hot lion and a BF wolf, then it would have kept my interest. I enjoyed the premise of two genres in the first book by Susanna Allen, however the writing needs more development. It is unfortunate that I DNF this one, and truly thank the publisher for inviting me to read and provide my views....more
