Phew, what a year it's been so far, eh? Every year that I spend in this business seems to get busier and 2008 has already been jam-packed with events and, most importantly, a ton of really great games. Over the last couple of weeks, I've mostly been immersing myself in Fallout 3, but I've also sunk a good deal of time into Fable 2. Just yesterday, I started playing Resistance 2 on PS3 (I know, blasphemy!) and it's actually pretty amazing. Sterling will have a full verdict later on this week, but I wanted to mention that games are getting more and more awesome across all platforms because that's good for all gamers, including those who may be hopelessly devoted to the Xbox 360.

I'm sure I don't need to mention it, but Gears of War 2 is coming next week. I just got a little care package from Microsoft with my retail copy and I can't wait to play it! Unfortunately, I've got to crank out My So-Called Live column before I can even crack the shrink wrap on this sweet baby, but it's totally worth it because I've got some exciting news for y'all.

'Spy-Hunter is Back!

I'm pleased to announce that we'll be holding another 'Spy-Hunter event next week! We're going to be playing the Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer beta next Tuesday November 4th (yes, that's election day!) on Xbox 360. We want to give our friends on the East Coast a chance to participate, so we'll be playing from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST (6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Eastern). If you'd like to participate, shoot me a friend request over Xbox Live at my gamertag: GabeSpy. Incidentally, if you've played in 'Spy-Hunter before, I may have had to remove you from my friends list as I tend to reach maximum friend capacity pretty quickly, but feel free to send another request and I'll happily accept.

Of course, this is the CoD:WaW beta we're talking about, so unfortunately you won't all be able to attend because beta keys are in short supply. If you happen to be one of the lucky few who snagged one though, I would love to shoot you to pieces next Tuesday!

For those of you who may be scratching your heads right about now, saying to yourselves, "I thought Spyhunter was an arcade game about driving a white sports car while the Peter Gunn theme plays in the background" this is an altogether different 'Spy-Hunter. 'Spy-Hunter is basically your chance to mix it up with us GameSpies in online multiplayer. All you have to do is befriend me over an online gaming service (in the case of next week's event, Xbox Live) and then be online with the appropriate game at the appointed time (in this case next Tuesday at 3 p.m. Pacific) and you're all set. Hope you like getting beat down!

So, yeah, as I'd mentioned before, I've got some Gears 2 to play, but I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of 'Spy-Hunter next week. Ordinarily, this is the place where I'd thank you for reading and invite you to send me an email, but now that we have user comments up and running, you can get in touch with me much faster (and way more publicly).
