Dragon Quest IX Side Quests

Where? When? Reward
Heights of Loneliness Available as soon as you arrive at the Heights of Loneliness for the first time. Treasure Map (Granite Tunnel of Woe Lv. 1)

In-Game Description

"An explorer called Christopher Collapsus wants some special medicine to help him out of a tight spot at the Heights of Loneliness."

This is yet another one of the many side quests in the game that can be completed as soon as you access and accept the side quest... so long as you're lucky, that is. The man who will give you this side quest, Christopher Collapsus, can be found at the Heights of Loneliness. If you're confused as to where that is, it's simple. Head eastward from Dourbridge to the Dourbridge world map, and then go south, so that you find yourself on the Lonely Plains. At the northeastern corner of the Lonely Plains is an isolated cabin. North of that, you'll find the dungeon known rather ominously as the Heights of Loneliness. It's there that you'll find Christopher Collapsus.

Unfortunately, you'll have to head almost completely through the Heights of Loneliness to find Collapsus. The reason you go through this dungeon in the first place is so that you can reach Zere Rocks. Right before Zere Rocks' entrance, you'll find a severed staircase. On these stairs, you'll find the aptly-named collapsed man, Christopher Collapsus. He's in a bad way, and he needs some Special Medicine to get him going again. You should have Special Medicine in your inventory, at least one vial of it, if you're following our walkthrough to a tee by the time you reach Christoper Collapsus. If so, accept the side quest, and then speak with him again to hand over the Special Medicine and be done with it. If not, return later (when you find, purchase, or craft some Special Medicine), and then give it to him. Either way, you'll get a rare treasure map for your trouble.
