Dragon Quest IX Side Quests

Where? When? Reward
Port Llaffan Available after you've defeated Leviathan at Tywll Cave/Cuddiedig Cliff. Majestic Mantle

In-Game Description

"You bumped into Glitzy the wandering fashion designer in the inn in Port Llaffan, and she's asked you to put on a bit of a fashion show for her. Go on, wow her with your best outfit!"

This is one of the most obscure side quests in the entire game, so don't beat up on yourself too badly if you don't happen to finish it immediately. That's what we're here for -- to help. In Port Llaffan, you'll encounter a lone person who will give you a side quest. That's right -- only a single person! And this particular woman will only become available to you after you complete the task at Port Llaffan; namely, defeating Leviathan at Cuddiedig Cliff. Once you've done that, visit with Glitzy, a woman staying at the Port Llaffan inn. There, she'll contract you to complete this rather confusing and vague side quest. And complete it you shall! Eventually, anyway.

The gist of this side quest is easy enough to figure out, but it's how you'll execute things that will no doubt confuse you. Glitzy wants you to put on a fashion show for her. This means that you will be forced to change your main character's equipment in such a way that Glitzy is impressed with your garb. You can try all sorts of different combinations; many of them will work just fine. But many, many more of them won't. Do you want to know what we wore specifically? Try this for a guaranteed victory: Rapier, Platinum Shield, Platinum Headgear, Flamenco Shirt, Magic Mittens, Red Tights, Acroboots, and Slime Earrings. That will do the trick! Once Glitzy is impressed enough, she'll hand off a Majestic Mantle for your inventory.
