Dragon Quest IX Side Quests

Where? When? Reward
Stornway Castle Village Available after you return to Stornway Castle following the defeat of Morag and the return of Princess Simona from Brigadoom. Gleeban Guinea, Strength Ring (Recipe), Slime Earrings (Recipe), Bow Tie (Recipe), Agility Ring (Recipe), Prayer Ring (Recipe), Life Ring (Recipe).

In-Game Description

"Bill, a scholar from Stornway, wants you to make him some Panacea. Apparently you can make it using alchemy."

Very early in the game, you'll meet a man named Bill in Stornway Castle. He's in one of the towers of the grand structure, overlooking some sickly soldiers in bed nearby. Don't expect to find him until after you return Princess Simona to Brigadoom after defeating Morag, however (so if you're not finding him anywhere in the castle, it's because you are looking too early). When you do run into Bill, however, he'll have a tall order for you. He needs an item called a Panacea, and you'll need to concoct it via alchemy. The thing is, you won't have the items needed to make a Panacea for quite some time.

The three items needed to make a Panacea are a Moonwort Bulb (which are very common), as well as a Superior Medicine and Special Medicine. The two latter items are going to be problematic this early in the game, because finding them organically is basically impossible (yet, anyway), and you don't yet have the items necessary to alchemize them, either. But when you do, put all of the items together and create a Panacea. Then, visit your friend Bill back at the castle and hand it over. Remember -- this side quest will take time to complete, so expect to complete it when you're more than halfway through the main story. For your hard work, Bill will reward you not only with a valuable Gleeban Guinea, but also six new recipes for your collection that would otherwise be unattainable.
